Champions in four divisions were crowned at the 2025 State Boys Soccer Tournament at Southeast Sales Powersports Stadium at Uihlein Soccer Park Saturday.

Fourth-seeded Madison West (17-1-1) won the Division 1 championship with a 1-0 win over second-seeded Marquette (11-6-4).

The Regents scored the only goal of the game at the 74:10 mark of the second half. After receiving a header pass from Jonah Wallace, Louis Rowe launched a strike from 12 yards out to the top center of the goal.

Madison West held an 11-6 advantage in shots, including a 2-0 edge in shots on goal. Rowe, Wallace and Adonis Briseno each had a game-high two shots apiece to lead the Regents. Sabastian Covarrubias played all 80 minutes and was credited with the victory in goal without having to make a save.

Charlie Angull and Ben Bausch led the Hilltoppers with two shots each, and Jimmy Prospero made one save and allowed the one goal.

Madison West wins its fourth State championship in its 16th State Tournament experience. Marquette advanced to the championship game and finished runner-up in its membership-leading 24th appearance in the tournament.

In Division 2, second-seeded Whitefish Bay (14-3-3) claimed the championship with a 3-1 victory over top-seeded DeForest (18-1-4) in the tournament final.

Despite being outshot 14-6 by the Norskies, including a 6-3 deficit in shots on goal, the Blue Dukes made each of their three shots a goal count. They scored all three of their goals in the first half. Thomas Began scored the game’s first goal at 15:06 with an assist by Alec Jacquart. He gained control on the right side of the penalty area and placed a grounder inside the left post. Reid Muderlak added to the Blue Dukes lead at 23:24 in the first half with a goal and Jacquart’s second assist. Muderluk headed a cross past the right side of the goalkeeper.  

DeForest cut its deficit in half at 2-1 with a goal just 15 seconds later at 23:39. Landon Adams scored an unassisted goal after he navigated through the defense and sent a kick from the top right of the penalty area across to the left side of the goal. The Blue Dukes added an insurance goal at 34:40 when Tucker Drane grounded a shot from 22 yards out inside the right post.  

Roman Grunbaum went the distance in goal for the Blue Dukes, making five saves, and Kolby Herschleb played all 80 minutes in goal for the Norkies without recording a save.  

Whitefish Bay wins the program’s eighth State championship in its 17th appearance in the tournament. DeForest finishes runner-up in its third State experience.

An own goal for top-seeded Catholic Memorial (17-1-3) late in the second half determined a 2-1 victory over second-seeded Notre Dame (16-5-3) 2-1 in the championship game in Division 3.

It didn’t take long for the Crusaders to score the first goal of the game. At 2:18 of the first half, Cal Olbrantz scored off an assist by Will Kinateder with a kick from inside the box that entered the bottom left area of the goal. The Tritons tied the game at 1-1 just before halftime. Liam West’s shot traveled across the box into the bottom left of the goal from 10 yards out. Seamus Green set up the goal with an assist.

A score, what proved to the be the game decider, was an own goal at 75:24. A Crusader’s cross that deflected off a Notre Dame defender into the right side of the Triton’s goal.

Notre Dame outshot Catholic Memorial 13-7 in the game, including a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal.

Individually, Kinateder, Olbrantz and Adam Mihelich led the Crusaders with two shots attempted. Two of Kinateder and Olbrantz shots were on goal. Jacob Broullire and West each had four shots, and Jacob Daviser had three for Notre Dame. The three combined to account for eight of the Triton’s nine shots on goal. Chase Thomas was credited with the win in goal for Catholic Memorial with eight saves. Ryan McNerney made four saves for Notre Dame.

The Crusaders won their second State championship in their eighth appearance, and the Tritons finished runner-up in their 12th tournament experience.

Top-seeded Oostburg (20-1-1) scored with 35 seconds remaining in the second overtime to defeat second-seeded Sturgeon Bay (21-4-2) 1-0 to win the Division 4 championship.

Cade Dirkse controlled a header pass from Parker Meerdink just inside the box and grounded a kick past the goalkeeper at the right post to avoid sending the game into a shootout

The Clippers attempted 10 shots in the game, which were three more the Oostburg, but the Flying Dutchmen ended the game with a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal. Both Daniel Wienke and Finn Stevenson attempted three shots to lead Sturgeon Bay. One of Stevenson’s shots was the only one on goal. Dirske had a team-leading three attempts for Flying Dutchmen, including their two shots on goal.

In goal, Shawn Wynveen made one stop in 100 minutes of play for Oostburg, while counterpart Ross Spritka made one save for the Clippers.

The Flying Dutchmen won their second State title in their fourth tournament appearance. Sturgeon Bay finished runner-up in its ninth experience at State.
