BOUND WISCONSIN LEVEL 2 FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Kingston Allen, Notre Dame
We generally don’t nominate players two weeks in a row, but what Allen has done has been nothing short of incredible. Just a week after going for 477 yards, at the time the third-most single-game yardage in state history, Allen rushed for 504 yards and 7 touchdowns on 44 carries as Notre Dame took down Slinger 56-42 in a matchup of defending state champions. He moves into second place on the single-game rushing list and becomes just the second player to hit 500 yards in a game, trailing only Wautoma’s Nathaniel Loging at 524 (set in 2014).

Rob Beglinger, Franklin
Franklin remained undefeated with a 42-20 win over Verona on Friday night, as senior running back Rob Beglinger had a career game. He carried the ball 23 times for 294 yards and six touchdowns, averaging nearly 13 yards per carry. He also caught a pair of passes.

Quintyn Martinez, Union Grove
Union Grove has advanced to Level 3 for the third time in school history, defeating Nicolet 14-12 in a nail-biter. The Broncos offense rode the shoulders of senior running back Quintyn Martinez, who rushed 40 times for 289 yards and a touchdown, as he accounted for 40 of the team’s 51 offensive plays.

McCoy Smith, Waunakee
Waunakee had to eek out an overtime win over eighth-seeded Chippewa Falls to open the playoffs, but the Warriors and senior McCoy Smith made sure it wouldn’t be so difficult this time around. Against a very good Mukwonago team, Waunakee scored a 20-0 victory. Smith scored all three touchdowns, two on the ground and one as a receiver. He rushed for 68 yards on six carries along with the 43-yard touchdown catch, adding 10 tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks, and a forced fumble on defense.

Joseph Tarasewicz, River Falls
River Falls ran away from La Crosse Central 50-24 on Friday night. Most of that running came from senior Joseph Tarasewicz, who ran 18 times for 267 yards and five touchdowns for River Falls. He also caught two passes for 74 yards in the victory.
