Last week we had madness in the Greater Metro which tightened the standings between the four teams highlighted in this game and the one below. Tosa West and Brook Central are two of those four teams that are a game back of Brookfield East in the loss column in the standings. In the first game between these two, the Lancers were victorious 81-65 behind four players in double figures led bya. 20 and 16 double-double of Henry Gruetzmacher.

Last week was madness, this week may provide clarity in the Greater Metro. With the game mentioned above and this one, Brookfield East has a chance to stay at the top, or a Germantown win will create a three-way tie. Back in mid-December, the Warhawks handed the Spartans their first loss of the season behind 27 points from Cahlil Jones.

The top two teams will square off for a second time in a game that could very well determine the MVC conference champion. Onalaska took game one between these two ranked squads, and if the Hilltoppers win, they’ll hold a one game lead over both Central and Aquinas with Holmen, Sparta, and Tomah left in league play. For Central, a win gives the Riverhawks the edge with Tomah, Logan, and Aquinas left.

A big matchup in the FRCC in which Bay Port could be eliminated from conference title aspirations or pull within two games. De Pere had a convincing win in game one between these two as the Redbirds held the Pirates AJ Ivy and JT Meyer to a combined 19 points.

We knew Darlington would be good this season with the sheer amount of talent and experience back. However, Mineral Point was coming off of back-to-back state tournament runs, lost a strong 2025 class, and entered a post-Dan Burreson era. The Pointers are playing well and sit just one game behind the Redbirds in the SWAL standings. Darlington took game one by 12.

Marshfield has been on an absolute tear as of late, winning eight straight games and rolling in the process. The Tigers now get a D.C. Everest team that has been as equally impressive and hungry to avenge a 70-64 loss earlier in the year and force a three-way tie in the WVC standings. For Marshfield, it’s been a while since they’ve suffered a loss in the Wisconsin Valley.

The Cloverbelt-East race has become a little more clear as Loyal and Columbus Catholic both sit at 9-1 in league play and sit two games ahead of the next teams. After starting the year 11-0, Spencer has sputtered a bit, losing four league games including dropping the first matchup between these two 67-56. The Dons have played well as of late, despite dropping a tight contest to Marathon.

Oregon sits two games behind Beaver Dam in the Badger-Large standings but have been playing some really good ball as of late. The Panthers have won 7 of 9 games with wins over Milton and McFarland and the only losses coming in a five-point loss to Waunakee and a two-point loss to Kaukauna. Beaver Dam have been impressive all season, including a 17-point win over Oregon in the first matchup between these two.

West Salem is undefeated in the Coulee. G-E-T is one game back and the only team that has a chance to challenge for the conference title. Back in early January, the Panthers scored a dominant 22-point victory over the Red Hawks, stifling the offense to the tune of a 30% field goal percentage. If West Salem wins this one, the Coulee conference title is all but clinched.

Another great event by Mark Miller pits teams from Wisconsin against teams in Minnesota. This year the event is hosted at Hamline University and will feature seven games from 10 in the morning until 9 at night.

Both of these teams will have tough weeks coming into this game, though Marshfield will be on the second game of a back-to-back. The matchup with Henry Gruetzmacher and Chris Pohl will be a fun one as both are headed to Division 1 programs next season and are two of the better big men in the state.

This contest could likely determine the North Shore champion as the winner will hold a one game lead with three conference games left. Both of these teams are talented up and down the roster and have put together a very good résumé to this point in the season. Game one between these two came down to a deep buzzer beater by Jack Kohnen to give Slinger the electric victory.
