Bound Wisconsin Week 1 Football Team of the Week Nominees

Appleton North Lightning

Appleton North finished well off the pace in the FVA last year and a Level 1 playoff exit sent the team home with a 5-5 overall record. With a strong group coming back, North was expected to be improved, but a 21-6 win over Mukwonago to open the season is certainly a statement win.

Arrowhead Warhawks

Arrowhead has talent, there’s no doubt about that. The Warhawks may have the most athletic skill group in the state, and things may finally be coming together in a big way, as increased expectations are even higher after a dominating 53-22 win over Marquette. The offense put up 435 yards, including 117 on just eight carries by Jacob Siner, while the defense forced seven sacks, two interceptions, and scored two defensive touchdowns.

Mosinee Indians

Mosinee has fallen to eventual state champion Stratford to open the season the last couple years, but reversed that trend to begin 2025. It was a hard-fought game, but the Indians came out on top 26-19 on Friday night. Treve Stoffel threw for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns with a team-high 52 yards on the ground as well.

Neenah Rockets

Neenah lost Wisconsin recruit Grant Dean, quarterback Evan Vanevenhoven, and others to graduation, but Steve Jung has built a program that is reloading, not rebuilding. That was evidenced in a big way as the Rockets defeated last year’s D1 runner-up Muskego 14-13 in Week 1. The Rockets made enough plays to get the job done in a low-scoring affair.

Northwestern Tigers

Northwestern did Northwestern things in Week 1, rolling over Prescott 40-7 behind 485 rushing yards distributed across several backs. Tysen Teal has 170 yards and two scores, Ethan Harms added 130 and a touchdown, and Bryer Burkhart chipped in with 85 yards and a touchdown in the opening victory.
