Bound Wisconsin Basketball Player of the Week - Dec. 1-7

Megan Hochkammer, Valders GBB
The Valders girls basketball team won three games last week, including a pair of conference contests. It started with a 45-34 win over New Holstein on Tuesday, as senior Megan Hochkammer had 11 points, nine steals, seven assists, and seven rebounds. In Thursday’s 63-30 victory over Chilton, Hochkammer scored 21 points with five rebounds and three steals. Saturday the Vikings took down Cedar Grove-Belgium 60-47 as Hochkammer scored a game-high 18 points with eight rebounds, and four steals.

Syd Loerke, Deerfield GBB
Deerfield is a perfect 6-0 on the year after a 3-0 record last week. Sophomore Syd Loerke had a triple-double in Thursday’s 79-35 win against Madison Country Day, finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals to go with eight assists. She had double-doubles in points and rebounds in wins over Randolph and Belleville as well.

Allyah Schwem, Viroqua GBB
Viroqua Allyah Schwem had a huge game on Tuesday in a 67-46 win over Dodgeville. The sophomore scored 31 points with 11 steals in the victory, and would add 16 points and five boards later in the week against Tomah.

Logan Nystrom, Assumption BBB
After a couple tough losses to open the season, Assumption scored its first victory of the year in dominating fashion, downing Chequamegon 68-41 on Friday night. Senior Logan Nystrom showed why he’s one of the state’s top shooters, knocking down 10-of-11 three-pointers en route to a game-high 38 points in the win. He also had four steals in the game.

Jamison Zavatchin, Oostburg BBB
Jamison Zavatchin became the boys program’s all-time leading scorer last week, as he is now up to 1,710 points in his career. The Flying Dutchmen scored a pair of wins, with Zavatchin erupting for 45 points in an 88-54 victory against New Holstein, as he made all eight free throw attempts and connected on 18-of-24 shots from the floor. He’d add a team-high 30 in a victory against Kewaskum as well.

Travis Wilson serves as the Bound Wisconsin Manager. Wilson was selected as part of the Sports 40 Under 40 list by Coach & AD Magazine and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association for 2019. The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. A graduate of Richland Center High School and Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Travis was a three-sport athlete in high school (football, baseball, basketball), inducted to the Richland Center High School Hall of Fame in 2023, and currently resides in Reedsburg.
