Division 1
Defending state champion Bay Port went down in Week 2 to Kimberly, allowing a new team to slide into the top spot. That team is Arrowhead, as the Warhawks have looked impressive in the early going. Bay Port slides to seventh following the loss. Hamilton is up to second, followed in the top five by Franklin, Waunakee, and Badger, who makes a big jump from unranked to fifth after putting a running clock on defending D2 state champ Slinger last week. Neenah, Appleton North, and Sun Prairie East all impressed in Week 1 but lost in Week 2, and fall out of the poll.
Division 2
Defending champion Slinger went down big to Badger last week, causing the Owls to fall down the rankings from first to sixth. Notre Dame, the champion in Division 3 last season, moves up to first, followed by West De Pere and Rice Lake. Waukesha West and Monona Grove are new to the poll, after losses from Kaukauna and Brookfield Central drop those teams out of the rankings.
Division 3
Catholic Memorial rebounded from an opening loss against Franklin to defeat Sun Prairie West last week, as sophomore quarterback Dalton Steinke looked very good. The Crusaders remain number one, followed again by Grafton. Mount Horeb/Barneveld went out in Week 1 against Grafton, and while the Vikings rebounded to defeat Monroe, the coaches did move MHB down a few spots to sixth this week. Pewaukee is up to third, followed by Reedsburg and Plymouth. Menomonie and Fox Valley Lutheran join the poll this week, with Port Washington and Whitefish Bay dropping out.
Division 4
Racine St. Catherine’s stays on top of the Division 4 Coaches Poll on Bound Wisconsin this week, with Winneconne, Aquinas, and Baldwin-Woodville not far behind. After Columbus lost a top five showdown to Aquinas, the Cardinals dip one to sixth, allowing Lake Mills to break into the top five.
Division 5
Northwestern remains the number one ranked team in the D5 poll this week. Stratford lost a second game this season, this time to rival Edgar, and the three-time defending state champions drop from second to sixth. Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Saint Croix Falls, and Racine Lutheran all lost as well, dropping out of the rankings completely. That allows Tomahawk, Lancaster, and New Glarus to move in this week.
Division 6
Edgar won over rival Stratford last week and remains the strong favorite in the voting for the Division 6 Bound Wisconsin Football Coaches Poll. Regis, Darlington, and Mondovi are next again, wtih Lomira sliding into the top five, as the defending champions have looked very good despite some heavy graduation losses. Cadott replaces Cedar Grove-Belgium in the rankings.
Division 7
Potosi/Cassville again gets a slight edge in a Division 7 poll that saw quite a few teams get votes towards the top. Kenosha St. Joseph is second, with Boyceville, Black Hawk/Warren, and Cochrane-Fountain City rounding out the top five. Iola-Scandinavia, River Ridge, and Ithaca all drop out of the rankings this week, replaced by Lourdes Academy, Pepin/Alma, and Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca.
8-Player
Gilman’s dominance continued, as the Pirates have yet to give up a point this season and are again ranked first. McDonell Central is second, as the top five remains the same as last week. Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas jumps up four spots to number six, with Athens, Shell Lake, and Sevastopol debuting in the rankings this week. Almond-Bancroft, Algoma, and Clayton fall out of the rankings.
