Bound Wisconsin Week 3 Football Player of the Week Nominees

Bode Falkner, Mondovi

Mondovi was in a dogfight on Friday night in the Cloverbelt Conference opener against Fall Creek. The game was tight throughout, but the Buffaloes would score a 34-26 victory behind a strong performance from sophomore Bode Falkner. He completed 9-of-14 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown, ran 19 times for 185 yards and three scores, had five tackles on defense, and recovered a fumble.

Gabe Heiges, Fox Valley Lutheran

In the annual Apple Bowl, Fox Valley Lutheran downed Xavier 35-7 to remain undefeated this season. Senior quarterback Gabe Heiges was all over the field, throwing for 109 yards and two touchdowns, rushing for 97 yards and two scores, and recording a Pick-6 on defense for the Foxes.

Jack Murray, Brookfield East

Brookfield East has been one of the biggest surprise teams in the state this year, missing the playoffs the past two seasons but moving to 3-0 with a 21-13 win over Division 1 second-ranked Hamilton last Friday. Senior Jake Murray, a Northern Illinois recruit, ran for a touchdown, caught two passes for 60 yards and a score, handled the punting duties, returned two punts for a total of 55 yards, and came up huge on defense with 13 tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack.

Tommy Novotny, Marquette

Marquette finally got in the win column on Friday with a 49-23 decision over a ranked Brookfield Central squad. Senior standout Tommy Novotny accounted for five touchdowns in the game, three on the ground and two as a receiver. He finished with 134 rushing yards on 26 carries, adding three receptions for 37 yards as well.

Joey Passaglia, Middleton

Middleton picked up a 35-13 win over Madison Memorial to open Big Eight Conference play. The Cardinals were hard to stop through the air, as senior quarterback Joey Passaglia threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns, completing 16-of-27 passes in the victory.
