Bound Wisconsin Basketball Player of the Week - Jan. 19-25

Brody Graetz, River Falls BBB

River Falls was a 75-44 winner over Rice Lake in boys basketball on Tuesday night. Senior Brody Graetz scored 17 points and 16 assists and six steals. A couple days later, the Wildcats took down Menomonie 67-46. Graetz scored a game-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists.

Cahlil Jones, Germantown BBB

Germantown boys basketball scored a couple hard-fought, close victories over quality teams last week. The Warhawks downed Wauwatosa East 70-66 as senior Cahlil Jones scored 32 points with seven rebounds and five assists. On Saturday, they defeated a very good Sheboygan North team 82-79, with Jones finished with 25 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, and three steals.

Ava Van Vonderen, Kimberly GBB

Kimberly junior girls basketball player Avan Van Vonderen had quite a week. On Thursday, she gave a verbal commitment to the University of Wisconsin and first year head coach Robin Pingeton. On Saturday, she helped the Papermakers take down a very good Hartford team 66-61. Van Vonderen finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Andrea Waldera, Blair-Taylor GBB

Blair-Taylor defeated Melrose-Mindoro 55-42 last week to remain firmly in control of the Dairyland-Small Conference. Andrea Waldera was a big part of the success, scoring 17 points while pulling down 15 rebounds to go with two assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Brock Walser, Badger BBB

Badger Badgers senior Brock Walser went over 1000 career points last month. Brock (Old English for Badger) went off in a big win in a 107-51 victory over Racine Horlick, scoring 52 points, making 20-of-27 shots from the field. He also made 12-of-16 free throw attempts, adding eight rebounds (seven offensive), and seven steals.

The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
