In Division 2, top-seeded Waukesha West won the title with a 2-1 advantage in a shootout after a double-overtime, 0-0 tie with Elkhorn in the championship game. St. Augustine Prep blanked Sheboygan Falls 2-0 in the tournament final to earn the Division 3 championship, and Lake Country Lutheran edged former defending champion Shoreland Lutheran 1-0 in the Division 4 championship game to earn the gold trophy.

THE DIVISION 1 FIELD:  Brookfield East was issued the top seed. The Spartans are making their third straight appearance and their 21st overall, which ranks second-most among all member schools. They have won three State titles. Two of those, in 1995 and 1997, were in Division 1. Their championship in 2014 was in Division 2. In addition, they have finished runner-up nine times, including 1982, 1987, 1989, 1993, 1999, 2003, 2006, 2019 and 2023. All of these were in Division 1 except 2019, which came in Division 2. The Spartans advanced to State with a 5-4 advantage in a shootout following a 0-0 tie with Arrowhead in the final of the Waukesha North Sectional final. They were the champions in the Greater Metro Conference this season. Marquette is the #2 seed. The Hilltoppers advance to the State Tournament in pursuit of their 17th State championship. They have now qualified for State in 11 of the past 12 seasons and for a membership-leading 24 times. Their 16 championships are more than any other member school. In addition to the most recent two championships in 2020 and 2021, the Hilltoppers won five consecutive titles from 2014-18 and a string of four crowns from 2000-03. They also won three straight titles from 2010-12 to go with championships in 2005 and 2008. Furthermore, they have finished runner-up in 2004, 2007 and 2022. Prior to joining the WIAA, The Hilltoppers won 14 titles as a former member of WISAA. Those came in 1974, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1984-86, 1989-90, 1992, 1994-97. They qualify this year by defeating Franklin 3-1 in the Kenosha Bradford Sectional final. The Hilltoppers were the runner-up in the Greater Metro Conference this season behind Brookfield East. Third-seeded Hudson returns to the State Tournament for the 13th time. The Raiders last qualified in 2022, which was the final year of a three-year streak of appearances. Their most notable accomplishment at State was a runner-up finish in 2021. This year, they tied Hortonville 2-2 in the Stevens Point Sectional final and advanced to the State semifinals by virtue of a 5-4 shootout. They are the champions of the Big Rivers Conference this season. This will be the 16th trip to the State Tournament for fourth-seeded Madison West. The Regents’ last appearance came in 2017. They have won three State titles, including back-to-back championships in 1987-88 and another in 1984. They have also recorded runner-up finishes in 1990 and 1986. The Regents are the representative from the Madison La Follette Sectional with a 2-1 advantage over former two-time defending champion Middleton in the final. They placed atop the standings in the Big Eight Conference this fall.

THE DIVISION 2 FIELD:  DeForest, the #1 seed in the division, returns to State for the third straight season, which also accounts for the Norskies’ overall total of appearances. They have fallen in the semifinals with each of their previous appearances. The Norskies shutout New Richmond 2-0 in the sectional final held at New Richmond to earn their way to the State semifinals. They were the champions in the Large Division of the Badger Conference this season. Second-seeded Whitefish Bay is making their 17th trip to the State Tournament overall and the first since 2022. They have won seven championships, including three in a row from 2015-2017. They also won consecutive crowns in 1982-83 when the tournament featured one class. They added a Division 1 title in 1994 and another Division 2 championship in 1995. The Blue Dukes also advanced to the finals in 2003, 2021 and 2022 and finished runner-up. They downed Union Grove 7-4 in the final of the sectional hosted by the Blue Dukes to continue their pursuit of their eighth championship. They are the champions of the North Shore Conference this season. The #3 seed, Brookfield Central, returns to State for the 11th time and for the first time since 2021. The Lancers earned the Division 2 gold trophy in 2019, and they won their other championship in 1992 when there was only one division in the Tournament Series. They recorded a runner-up finish in the program’s first-ever appearance in 1984. This season, they defeated Wauwatosa East 2-0 in the final of the Pewaukee Sectional to advance to the State semifinals this year. The Lancers finished fifth in the Greater Metro Conference, which was won by Division 1 qualifier Brookfield East. Fourth-seeded Homestead is back in the State Tournament for the second year in a row and for the eighth time overall. The Highlanders won State titles in Division 1 in 1993 and 1999. They also finished as the Division 1 runner-up in 1998. The Highlanders shutout West Bend West 2-1 in the Cedarburg Sectional final to claim their berth in the tourney field. They placed fifth in the North Shore Conference standings this fall.

THE DIVISION 3 FIELD:  Catholic Memorial, the #1 seed, found its way back to the State Tournament for the first time since 2011 and for the eighth time overall. The Crusaders had a string of six straight appearances from 2006-11. That run produced a Division 2 championship in 2010 and runner-up finishes in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011. Prior to joining the WIAA, the Crusaders won WISAA championships in 1983 and 1991. This year, they placed third in the Classic Eight Conference and advanced through the Shorewood Sectional with a 2-1 win over New Berlin Eisenhower in the final. Notre Dame is the second seed in the bracket. The Tritons qualify for the 12th time overall and for the first time since 2022. The Tritons won their first championship in 2001 and then added back-to-back Division 2 titles in 2007-08. In addition, they advanced to the championship game and finished runner-up in Division 2 in 2000, 2013, in the alternate fall season in 2020-21, and again in 2022. This year, they advance to State from the sectional the Tritons hosted with a 1-0 victory over Kewaskum in the final. The Tritons tied for third place in the Fox River Classic Conference this fall. Third-seeded McFarland is appearing in its sixth tourney and the first since 2021. The Spartans won the Division 2 championship in the 2020-21 alternate fall season.  They also advanced to the championship game in Division 3 in 2018 and 2019 and finished runner-up on both occasions. The Spartans placed third in the Small Division of the Badger Conference this year. Their return to the State semifinals comes following a 2-1 decision over Edgewood in the sectional final held at McFarland. Fourth-seeded Somerset qualifies for the second time in the past three seasons. The only other appearance for the Hawks resulted in a loss in the semifinals in 2023. They edged  Lakeland 1-0 in the Medford Sectional final to qualify this season. They finished first in the Middle Boarder Conference standings during the regular season.

THE DIVISION 4 FIELD:  Oostburg was issued the top seed in the bracket. The Flying Dutchmen qualify for State for the first time since 2021 when they advanced to the title game and finished runner-up. The Flying Dutchmen’s only title came in Division 2 with their first State appearance back in 1994. Their path to State culminated with a 3-0 blanking of The Prairie School in the sectional final played at Kohler. The Flying Dutchmen were the champions in the Big East/Eastern Wisconsin Soccer Conference this year. Second-seeded Sturgeon Bay qualifies for the ninth time overall and for the first time since 2019 when the Clippers won the gold ball after winning the program’s first championship in 2015. They also advanced to the championship final in 2017 and finished runner-up. This season, they advance to the semifinals by virtue of a 4-3 shootout following a scoreless tie versus Xavier in the final of the Kiel Sectional. They are the champions of the Packerland Conference this year. Third-seeded Arcadia returns for its first appearance at State since back-to-back experiences, qualifying in Division 3 in 2020 and in Division 2 in 2021. Both those appearances resulted in defeats in the semifinals. The Raiders rolled over Three Lakes/Phelps 5-0 in the sectional final played at Arcadia for a return trip to Milwaukee. They placed runner-up in the Mississippi Valley Conference this fall. Fourth-seeded Madison Country Day/Abundant Life Christian/St. Ambrose co-op will make its first appearance in the State Tournament.
