Looking Back

Week 6 got started on Thursday with another impressive showing from Flambeau, as the seventh-ranked Falcons beat a solid Phillips program 58-8. Flambeau rolled up 458 yards on the ground, as senior Chanse Ludescher had 231 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries, while classmate Cole Schley ran 21 times for 186 yards and four scores.

The top five matchup in the Ridge & Valley-8 went the way of North Crawford, as the fourth-ranked Trojans defeated fifth-ranked Belmont 44-28 in a battle of unbeatens. Both Cullen Jacobus and Landry Stluka went over 100 rushing yards for North Crawford, who also got a pair of interceptions from the defense.

It was the rare close game in 8-player, as Algoma came roaring back against Sevastopol to win 30-28 after trailing heading into the fourth quarter. Algoma senior quarterback Parker Liscka threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns and added 153 yards and a score on the ground as well, as several Sevastopol turnovers helped the Wolves stay in the game.

Defending state champion Owen-Withee held off a stiff challenge from Alma Center Lincoln, winning 20-14 behind 218 rushing yards and two touchdowns from freshman Clay Mueller.

Valley Christian entered last week’s game against Oakfield undefeated and ranked in the Bound Wisconsin Coaches Poll, but things fell apart quickly for the Warriors, who trailed 14-0 at halftime only to see Oakfield assert its dominance en route to a 48-0 victory. Oakfield’s defense limited Valley Christian to just 98 yards of offense and forced three turnovers, one of which was a Pick-6, plus returned a punt for a touchdown.

Tri-County played a replacement game against Rosholt, who is new to 8-player this season, and the Penguins suffered their first loss of the year, falling 48-34 to Rosholt. Tri-County ran for 390 yards, but a couple interceptions were tough to overcome. Rosholt had 403 yards of offense in the game behind a balanced attack.

Looking Ahead

It’s a good one on Thursday, as seventh-ranked and unbeaten Flambeau will welcome in Phillips, who sits at 3-1 on the field to go with a couple forfeit wins. Flambeau quarterback Cole Schley continues to be one of the top offensive weapons in 8-Player.

There’s a top five matchup in the Ridge & Valley-8 this week, as a pair of undefeated teams will face off at North Crawford High School. The fourth-ranked Trojans will welcome in fifth-ranked Belmont, with the winner holding the cards in the league race heading down the stretch.

The top two teams in the Southeast-8 will meet up on Friday, as undefeated Valley Christian travels to Oakfield, whose only loss this year was a replacement game against Algoma.

Star of the Week: Aidric Egge, Kickapoo/La Farge

Kickapoo/La Farge scored a hard-fought 28-20 win over Wisconsin Heights on Friday in La Farge High School’s Homecoming game. Senior Aidric Egge showed off his athleticism with 248 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries, adding a 20-yard reception, four tackles, and a 30-yard kick return as well. He qualified for the state track & field meet in four events in the spring.
