Looking Back
What a game it was in the North Central-West 8 Conference, as Prairie Farm/Clayton and Clear Lake battled it out for control of the league heading into the final week. In a thriller, Prairie Farm/Clayton scored a 30-29 victory. More on that one in just a bit.
Sevastopol scored a key 28-12 win over Algoma on Friday night, which will greatly help the seeding for the Pioneers. Junior quarterback Bo Tanck threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns with another 98 yards and a score on the ground. Cash Kuehn hauled in nine of those passes for 155 yards and both touchdowns through the air. Ray Johnson was outstanding on defense with 18 tackles and an interception.
Belmont secured a 50-6 win over De Soto on Friday that wraps up at least a share of the Ridge & Valley-8 Conference title for the Braves. Wyatt Temperly threw a pair of touchdowns while Oliver Harcus ran for 142 yards and three scores.
Junior Xavier Mielke had a huge day as Oakfield downed Princeton/Green Lake 54-36. Mielke threw for 128 yards and a touchdown, adding 25 carries for 312 yards and five touchdowns, accounting for 440 yards of total offense. He also had nine tackles and two interceptions on defense, handled the punting duties, and accounted for a pair of two-point conversions.
Valley Christian remained undefeated in a 55-26 win over Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy, but it wasn’t for lack of trying by GB NEW Lutheran/Providence senior Hayden Schultz. He threw for 377 yards and three touchdowns and added 126 yards and a score on the ground as well for a total of 503 yards of offense.
Looking Ahead
This is the final week of the 8-player football regular season, with playoff positioning and conference races on the line.
We get an undefeated top ten showdown in the Southeast-8 to close out the year. Sixth-ranked Abundant Life/St. Ambrose will travel to seventh-ranked Palmyra-Eagle with the league crown on the line.
In a replacement game for both squads, top-ranked Gilman will make the trip to fourth-ranked Shell Lake, as both teams are undefeated. Shell Lake is not eligible for the playoffs, but this is yet another huge matchup for Gilman, who will play their third game against a team ranked in the top five.
Rosholt is currently atop the Central Wisconsin-8, and the Hornets will welcome in Tri-County this week, as the Penguins are looking to force a share for the league crown with a win.
Owen-Withee and Athens are each 5-2 heading into Week 8 and jockeying for playoff position. Each has losses to Gilman and Assumption on the season.
Star of the Week: Aidan Schradle, Prairie Farm/Clayton

A Prairie Farm/Clayton athlete is our 8-Player Star of the Week for a second consecutive week, as sophomore quarterback Aidan Schradle had a big day for the Bearcats in a 30-29 win over previously undefeated Clear Lake that gave the team the inside track to a league title. Schradle completed 25-of-42 passes for 315 yards and four touchdowns in the game.
