DIVISION 6 | BRACKET

(Times, dates, & locations subject to change)

The Placements

Mondovi is the top overall seed in Division 6 and is the top seed in the top left bracket. Saint Mary Catholic is the two-seed there, while perennial power Regis is the three-seed. Manitowoc Lutheran grabbed the top seed in the lower left bracket, which also includes last year’s D7 state champion Kenosha St. Joseph as the two-seed. Bonduel earns the top seed in the upper right grouping. Edgar is the top-seeded team in the lower right, allowing just 22 points all year with six shutouts, including the last four games. Undefeated Lomira is the two-seed there.

Six to Watch

Here are six of the most electric offensive players that will be lining it up beginning this weekend:

Bode Falkner, Mondovi - Falkner has already accounted for more than 2500 yards of offense this year, throwing for 1,878 with 27 touchdowns and rushing for 710 with 10 scores on the ground.

Christopher Kenesie, Kenosha St. Joseph - Kenesie has slid over to quarterback this year and continued to be a playmaker for last year’s D7 champs. He’s thrown for 698 yards and 10 touchdowns, adding more than 800 on the ground with 12 scores.

Ian Nelles, Cambridge - Nelles was one of the more prolific passers in the state during the regular season, completing 155-of-243 passes for 2,018 yards with 23 touchdowns. He also rushed for seven touchdowns.

Logan Pierce, Luther - Pierce is the top rusher in Division 6 during the regular season with 1,632 yards on 216 carries. The senior has scored 19 rushing touchdowns and also caught 11 passes this year.

Hunter Schaumberg, Lomira - Schaumberg is just a sophomore but has rushed for 1,588 yards and 23 touchdowns on 162 carries this year, averaging 9.8 yards per attempt. He also leads the Lions with 201 receiving yards.

Julian Wells, Pardeeville - Wells leads Division 6 with 2,227 passing yards, completing 66% of his passes with 20 touchdowns. He’s added nine short rushing scores as well.

Upset Alert

This one seems obvious in a way, as sixth-seeded Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg has already beaten third-seeded Cuba City this year, 26-14 back in Week 6. That was the last win for the Knights co-op, however. Cuba City did score a nice 27-20 win over Mineral Point to close the year though.

Best Level 1 Game

Potosi/Cassville won four in a row to close out the year and grab a share of the Six Rivers Conference title. Elevated to Division 6 by the WIAA’s Tournament Performance Factor, the team is a five-seed in the postseason and will travel to fourth-seeded Mineral Point in an outstanding southwest Wisconsin battle.

Potential intriguing match-ups the rest of the way

Please note the emphasis on potential.

Mondovi vs. Regis, Sectional Final - Mondovi hammered Regis 38-0 a few weeks ago, and the Ramblers would love another shot at the Buffaloes. The teams met twice last year, with Regis winning in the regular season before Mondovi won in the playoffs.

Bonduel vs. Kewaunee, Sectional Final - This would be another rematch from the regular season, which Bonduel won 28-22 back in the first game of the conference schedule.

Edgar vs. Mondovi, State Final - A long way to go against some really good teams for either of these squads to get there, but it would be a rematch of a crossover game from back in Week 4, which Edgar won 15-8 to hand Mondovi its only loss of the year.
