BOUND WISCONSIN LEVEL 1 FOOTBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets
Cedar Grove-Belgium advanced to Level 3 of the playoffs for a third straight season with a 17-14 win over Kewaunee on Friday night. The third-seeded Rockets went on the road to score the victory despite being out-gained 301-182 in the game. Austin Knapp and Alex Gieb each rushed for touchdowns, while Noah peterson banged through a 43 yard field goal in addition to both extra points. Peterson and Josh Anzia both had interceptions on defense.

Grafton Black Hawks
It hasn’t been easy for Grafton coming off last year’s Division 3 state championship, as the Black Hawks went 5-4 in the regular season and received a six-seed in the Division 2 playoffs. They’ve found a rhythm, however, sneaking past second-seeded Elkhorn 14-13 on Friday night. The Black Hawks defense played outstanding, recovering a pair of fumbles. Andy Tran nearly doubles his season rushing output on a 72-yard touchdown run.

Hudson Raiders
Hudson was outstanding in the middle part of the game and scored a 38-13 road win over second-seeded Verona on Friday. Grant Bjerke threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns with another 124 yards and a score on the ground. Hudson is looking to get to the state semi-finals for the first time since back-to-back trips in 2012 and 2013, as they’re chasing their first state championship appearance. The Raiders forced five Verona turnovers, including four interceptions.

La Crosse Logan Rangers
La Crosse Logan dominated on the ground with 474 rushing yards in a 49-27 win over Mount Horeb/Barneveld. Senior running back Jameson Degenhardt led the way with 230 yards and three scores, while junior quarterback Tommy Check added 207 yards on the ground with four scores, plus 66 passing yards.

Wrightstown Tigers
Wrightstown posted a rare Level 2 playoff shutout, downing Stratford 9-0 in a Division 4 game. It was a defensive battle throughout, with Wrightstown scraping out 221 yards of offense to get the job done. Quarterback Rogan Thompson ran in the only touchdown of the game. Andrew Besel knocked home a 31-yard field goal.
