Bound Wisconsin Basketball Player of the Week - Jan. 26-Feb. 1

Allison Charbonneau, McFarland GBB

McFarland scored a pair of conference wins last week, first a 73-32 running clock decision over Portage, as freshman Allison Charbonneau scored 31 points to go with six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. She’d follow that up with a 16-point performance as the Spartans downed Fort Atkinson 51-48, adding nine rebounds in that contest.

Amare Hereford, Beloit Memorial BBB

Amare Hereford continued his huge senior season for the Purple Knights. In an 88-79 win over Hononegah (IL) he had 36 points with 10 rebounds, six assists, and four steals. In an 89-80 win over Badger, he erupted for 44 points, eclipsing the 2000-point mark for his career. He added seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals as well.

Vedder MacTaggert, Marshfield BBB

Marshfield has been on a tear as of late, winning seven in a row. That includes a pair of wins last week, 101-52 over Merrill and 68-37 over Wisconsin Rapids. In the first game, senior Vedder MacTaggert scored 33 points with eight rebounds. He’d add 11 points and nine rebounds in the victory over Wisconsin Rapids.

Kinley Peterson, Fox Valley Lutheran GBB

Fox Valley Lutheran has won six games in a row overall, including four straight as they try to stay within striking distance in the North Eastern Conference race. Last Wednesday the Foxes beat Winnebago Lutheran 53-48 behind 17 points from freshman Kinley Peterson. On Friday it was a 65-50 win over Shawano, with Peterson scoring a game-high 26 points, knocking down eight-of-nine, three-point attempts.

McKinley Russell, Shullsburg GBB

Shullsburg won a trio of games last week to stay atop the Six Rivers-West standings. In a 61-26 win over River Ridge, sophomore McKinley Russell had 22 points with seven rebounds, seven steals, and five assists. Russell led the way with 24 points and 10 assists in a 74-49 victory against Benton. She’d cap the week off with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in a 69-40 win over Juda.
