Drake Petersen of Saint Croix Falls has been selected as the Week 2 Bound Wisconsin Football Player of the Week following a statewide vote on BoundWisconsin.com. His big day helped the Saints score a quality win over a very good Grantsburg team. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 2. A total of 4,345 votes were cast, as Petersen’s 1,527 were enough to edge out second place Logan Pierce of Luther, who tallied 986 votes.
In an incredible game between excellent small-school teams, Saint Croix Falls rallied for a 35-30 win over Grantsburg in the final minute. Playing with a lot on his mind as his father was in the hospital, senior Drake Petersen caught 11 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns. His impact didn’t stop there, forcing and recovering a fumble. He also had an interception and broke up a pair of passes, one on a key fourth down and one on the final Hail Mary attempt of the game. Petersen punted once for 36 yards and had a two-point conversion as well.
Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Bound Wisconsin Football Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for next week’s nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
