BOUND WISCONSIN WEEK 2 FOOTBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Darlington Redbirds
Darlington is the defending state champion in Wisconsin’s Division 6, and Friday they took on Illinois’ defending 1A state champ Lena-Winslow. The Redbirds dominated throughout, winning 35-0 in the border battle. Senior quarterback Zeke Zuberbuhler completed seven passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns.
Lake Country Lutheran Lightning
Lake Country Lutheran took down the defending Division 5 state champion Mayville Cardinals 17-14. While LCL struggled running the ball with just five yards on the ground, junior quarterback Will Molnau did throw for 262 yards and a pair of scores. Sophomore Sawyer Uttech booted a key early field goal that helped make a difference.
Mondovi Buffaloes
Mondovi played an exciting game against Division 4 fourth-ranked Osceola in Week 2, pullilng out a 56-43 decision. Junior quarterback Bode Falkner was outstanding once again, throwing for 158 yards and three touchdowns with another 82 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Cameron Gruber rushed for 166 yards and two scores as well.
Randolph/Cambria-Friesland Patriots
Randolph/Cambria-Friesland is a new co-op this year but are off to a hot start, including a 14-10 win over a ranked Hilbert team on Friday night. The Patriots won despite being out-gained in the game, forcing a couple key turnovers. Senior quarterback Gerrit Sjoerdsma threw a pair of touchdowns in the win.
Stratford Tigers
In the most Stratford-Edgar score that could Stratford-Edgar, it was the visiting Tigers from Stratford that came out ahead in a 6-3 win over Edgar on Friday night. Kolton Haupt hit Matthew Schoenfuss late in the fourth quarter for the game-winning points.
Travis Wilson serves as the Bound Wisconsin Manager. Wilson was selected as part of the Sports 40 Under 40 list by Coach & AD Magazine and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association for 2019. The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. A graduate of Richland Center High School and Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Travis was a three-sport athlete in high school (football, baseball, basketball), inducted to the Richland Center High School Hall of Fame in 2023, and currently resides in Reedsburg.
