Updated UNOFFICIAL Wisconsin Football Playoff Matrix rankings have been posted, and it’s time to take a look at some of the noteworthy changes and movement after last week’s results.
The unofficial results are courtesy of andylavoy.com/football, and the full point totals and rankings for all divisions can be found there. Official point totals are kept by the WIAA.
For more information on the new Wisconsin Football Playoff Matrix, including how point totals are determined, please click here. As a reminder, 32 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, with the top four in each division receiving a one-seed, the next four receiving a two-seed, and so on.
Remember, there are thousands of games remaining on the schedule this year, with lots of changes ahead in the order, and things will smooth out the more results that are in the system.
DIVISION 1
West De Pere is elevated to D1 this year by the WIAA’s Tournament Performance Factor, but they have looked very good against bigger competition the first two weeks. The Phantoms have impressive wins over Appleton North and Sun Prairie East, and a sizable advantage in the Playoff Matrix after two games. Defending champion Arrowhead is second, with Muskego and Hamilton tied for third.
DIVISION 2
Pulaski has posted wins over D1 teams Appleton East and Hortonville, putting the Red Raiders atop Division 2. Brookfield Central, Menomonee Falls, and Elkhorn are next, while a trio of teams are tied for fifth: Monona Grove, New Richmond, and Wauwatosa East.
DIVISION 3
Port Washington defeated Division 1 team Sheboygan North along with solid D3 squad Mount Horeb/Barneveld and is ahead by a good margin as of right now in Division 3. Reedsburg is second, followed by Catholic Memorial, La Crosse Logan, and Pewaukee.
DIVISION 4
Jefferson is ahead in the Division 4 rankings so far, followed by Denmark and West Salem in a tie for second. Marinette is fourth, with Freedom in the number five position in the early going.
DIVISION 5
Racine Lutheran is the top team in Division 5, as the Crusaders have a win over Marmion (IL) and Martin Luther. Lake Country Lutheran is second in the Division 5 Playoff Matrix, followed by New Glarus, Chilton, and Random Lake/Ozaukee.
DIVISION 6
Bonduel holds a narrow advantage in Division 6 this week, followed closely by Poynette, Manitowoc Lutheran, Randolph/Cambria-Friesland, and Lomira. Kewaunee is the highest one-loss team, thanks to a win over larger Luxemburg-Casco.
DIVISION 7
Cochrane-Fountain City was the runner-up in Division 7 last year and is the top team in the Week 2 Playoff Matrix. Ithaca/Weston is second, though the program did not play this week following the tragic death of freshman player Briggs Maxwell in a farming accident. Shiocton is third, with Pecatonica/Argyle and Boyceville rounding out the top five.
8-Player
Gilman has a slight edge in 8-player, where wins against teams with enrollments above 200 are given slightly more points. North Crawford is second, while Clear Lake and Hurley are tied for third.

Wilson was selected as part of the Sports 40 Under 40 list by Coach & AD Magazine and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association for 2019. The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
