Bound Wisconsin Basketball Team of the Week - Dec. 8-14

Appleton East GBB

Appleton East played just one game last week, but it was a big one, as the Patriots took on Division 1 second-ranked Kimberly Friday night. In one of the bigger program victories in some time, East defeated the Papermakers 50-43. Ella Sweeney had a game-high 14 points, while Ambria Fischer and Aubrie Erickson finished in double-figures as well.

Kenosha St. Joseph BBB

The Kenosha St. Joseph boys basketball team had competitive games with a pair of conference opponents last week. Knocking off Saint Thomas More 65-58 early in the week, the Lancers had an overtime thriller at The Prairie School on Thursday night, winning 60-54.

Kettle Moraine Lutheran GBB

The Kettle Moraine Lutheran girls basketball team scored a pair of impressive victories last week, starting with a 69-55 win over Laconia. Sophomore Brooklyn Luehring had a team-high 20 points in that one. They’d take down Wisconsin Lutheran later in the week, 67-52, with Luehring scoring 23 points to lead four players in double figures.

Madison Memorial GBB

Madison Memorial capped off a three-games-in-four-days stretch with a 63-56 win over Verona that snapped the Wildcats’ 64-game Big Eight Conference winning streak. Avery Blue had a game-high 16 points, as fellow seniors Neveah Jackson and Charity Wilson chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively. Memorial beat Madison West 86-20 and McFarland 76-42 earlier in the week.

Seymour BBB

Seymour scored impressive wins over Xavier and Kimberly last week to move their season record to 3-0. The Thunder took down Xavier 82-69, with Xavier Salzman scoring a game-high 23 points, while Kyler Marks and Isaac Feske added 17 points apiece. On Saturday, Seymour was a 77-64 winner over Kimberly, as Marks scored 27 and Feske 24.

Wilson was selected as part of the Sports 40 Under 40 list by Coach & AD Magazine and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association for 2019. The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
