BOUND WISCONSIN WEEK 3 FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Bear Bonk, Marquette
Marquette won quite the shootout with Kettle Moraine on Friday in a crossover matchup, claiming a wild 69-45 victory. The Hilltoppers racked up 648 yards of offense, with almost half coming on the ground. Sophomore running back Bear Bonk did most of that damage, carrying the ball 24 times for 255 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught a pair of passes for 12 yards.
Kai Haines, Deerfield
Deerfield scored its first win of the year on Friday in the Trailways Conference opener, downing Dodgeland 34-12. Junior running back Kai Haines was a big-play machine, rushing just 15 times but racking up 326 yards and five touchdowns, averaging nearly 22 yards per rush attempt. He added four tackles on defense, 63 kick return yards, and a two-point conversion.
Drew McConkey, West Salem
West Salem not only ended Aquinas’ 21-game Coulee Conference winning streak on Friday night, the Panthers put a running clock on the Blugolds in a 35-6 victory. Senior quarterback Drew McConkey completed six-of-eight passes for 107 yards while rushing for a team-high 165 yards and five touchdowns on 12 attempts as West Salem takes early control of the league race.
Brady Ubersox, Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg
In the battle of stateline co-op programs, Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg eked out a narrow 13-12 win over Southwestern/East Dubuque in Week 3. Junior Brady Ubersox made an impact all over the field, rushing for a team-high 84 yards on offense while recording six tackles and four sacks on defense for the Knights.
Dawson Walter, Big Foot
Big Foot ended a 29-game conference losing streak and moved to 2-1 overall on the season with a 24-8 win over Clinton on Friday night. Senior running back Dawson Walter had an excellent game on the ground for the Chiefs, carrying the ball 22 times for 172 yards and a touchdown, averaging 7.8 yards per carry on the night.
Travis Wilson serves as the Bound Wisconsin Manager. Wilson was selected as part of the Sports 40 Under 40 list by Coach & AD Magazine and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association for 2019. The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. A graduate of Richland Center High School and Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Travis was a three-sport athlete in high school (football, baseball, basketball), inducted to the Richland Center High School Hall of Fame in 2023, and currently resides in Reedsburg.
