Updated UNOFFICIAL Wisconsin Football Playoff Matrix rankings have been posted, and it’s time to take a look at some of the noteworthy changes and movement after last week’s results.
The unofficial results are courtesy of andylavoy.com/football, and the full point totals and rankings for all divisions can be found there. Official point totals are kept by the WIAA.
For more information on the Wisconsin Football Playoff Matrix, including how point totals are determined, please click here. As a reminder, 32 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, with the top four in each division receiving a one-seed, the next four receiving a two-seed, and so on.
Remember, there are thousands of games remaining on the schedule this year, with lots of changes ahead in the order, and things will smooth out the more results that are in the system.
DIVISION 1
West De Pere remains the top team in Division 1, with Arrowhead and Muskego close behind. Sussex Hamilton isn’t far behind in fourth, as those teams would make up the number one seeds as of right now. Oconomowoc’s loss to Hamilton drops the Raccoons from fifth to a tie for eighth. As of now, Janesville Parker and Milwaukee Reagan would be tied for the final spot.
DIVISION 2
A shakeup at the top of Division 2 in this week’s Matrix, with Pulaski dropping out of the top spot all the way to 11th after going down to Bay Port. That allows a surprising Menomonee Falls team to move into the top spot, followed by Union Grove, Holmen, Burlington, and Notre Dame in the top five. Nicolet would be the final qualifier as of right now, with Kaukauna the first team out.
DIVISION 3
Reedsburg’s win over La Crosse Central helped the Beavers slip ahead of Port Washington for the top position in this week’s D3 Matrix system, as Portage is up to second also. Port Washington is third, followed by Plymouth and La Crosse Logan. Martin Luther would be the final qualifier this week, with Baldwin-Woodville the first out.
DIVISION 4
Freedom makes the jump to first this week, with a non-conference win over Lake Mills in Week 1 looking better and better. North Eastern Conference rival Little Chute is second, followed by Stratford, Northwestern, and West Salem.Big Foot is the first team out this week.
DIVISION 5
The top two are unchanged this week, with Racine Lutheran comfortably out in front in Matrix points. Lake Country Lutheran remains second. The top five consists of Darlington, New Glarus, and Amherst. Down at the bottom of the qualifier list, four teams (Dodgeville, Richland Center, Sturgeon Bay, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood) are tied for final position as of now.
DIVISION 6
Bonduel remains the top team in the Division 6 Matrix, though the Bears are just percentage points ahead of Mondovi. Manitowoc Lutheran and Randolph/Cambria-Friesland aren’t far behind, while Poynette is fifth. Cameron and Cumberland are currently tied for the final spot in D6.
DIVISION 7
Shiocton leap-frogs Cochrane-Fountain City to take over the number one position this week, with Hilbert and Iowa-Grant the other number one seeds in this week’s Matrix. Coleman, Glenwood City, Lourdes Academy, and Cashton would be the two seeds this week.
8-Player
Hurley and Gilman have the same Matrix number this week, with Belmont and Assumption joining the duo as top seeds this week. North Crawford, Sevastopol, Wabeno/Laona, and Clear Lake are the number two seeds. Luck and New Auburn are tied for the final qualifying spot as of now.

The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. A graduate of Richland Center High School and Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Travis was a three-sport athlete in high school (football, baseball, basketball), inducted to the Richland Center High School Hall of Fame in 2023, and currently resides in Reedsburg.
