Axzil Eggert of Freedom has been selected as the Week 5 Bound Wisconsin Football Player of the Week following a statewide vote on BoundWisconsin.com. His big day helped the Irish take down previously undefeated Fox Valley Lutheran. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 5. A total of 2,759 votes were cast, as Eggert’s 1,266 were enough to edge out second place Owain Nelles of Cambridge, who tallied 634 votes.

Freedom handed D3 sixth-ranked Fox Valley Lutheran its first loss of the season on Friday, 28-17. Sophomore running back Axzil Eggert had a big game with 21 carries for 175 yards and four touchdowns, adding a pair of catches for 26 yards as well. Eggert more than doubled his rushing output from the previous four games.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Bound Wisconsin Football Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for next week’s nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
