Updated UNOFFICIAL Wisconsin Football Playoff Matrix rankings have been posted, and it’s time to take a look at some of the noteworthy changes and movement after last week’s results.
The unofficial results are courtesy of andylavoy.com/football, and the full point totals and rankings for all divisions can be found there. Official point totals are kept by the WIAA.
For more information on the Wisconsin Football Playoff Matrix, including how point totals are determined, please click here. As a reminder, 32 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, with the top four in each division receiving a one-seed, the next four receiving a two-seed, and so on.
Remember, there are thousands of games remaining on the schedule this year, with lots of changes ahead in the order, and things will smooth out the more results that are in the system.
DIVISION 1
West De Pere remains the top team in Division 1, with a comfortable lead over Bay Port, who is second overall. Muskego’s loss to Oconomowoc created some changes, as Muskego drops to fifth overall and a two-seed, while Oconomowoc jumps up into a one-seed as the fourth overall. Fond du Lac is the final qualifier.
DIVISION 2
Some minor shuffling in the top four spots of Division 2, but the four one-seeds remain the same as last week: New Richmond, Holmen, Union Grove, and Monona Grove. Oregon would be the final qualifier as of right now.
DIVISION 3
Reedsburg went down to Holmen last week as the Beavers drop from the number one overall seed to third this week, though still a top seed. Pewaukee is now first overall, with Port Washington and Whitefish Bay joining the Pirates and Beavers as one seeds. Sparta is the final qualifier as of right now after rallying to defeat Tomah last week.
DIVISION 4
A little bit of a change in the number one seeds this week, with Freedom the top seed overall while Stratford, Edgewood, and Little Chute also occupy number one seeds. Turner is the final qualifier, while 1-4 Wrightstown is the last team eliminated as of right now.
DIVISION 5
New Glarus has one loss to Darlington, but moves to the top overall seed of Division 5, while undefeated Darlington is third overall. Lake Country Lutheran dropped a game to Racine St. Catherine’s and slips out of the top overall seed to second overall, though still on the one-seed line. In a division that is not very deep, four teams with 1-4 records would get in as of right now.
DIVISION 6
Bonduel remains the top team in the Division 6 Matrix, as the four, number one seeds remain the same from last week. Loyal/Greenwood would be the final qualifier among Division 6 teams as of right now.
DIVISION 7
Shiocton is tops in Division 7 again, with one-loss Iowa-Grant second by just a couple percentage points. Glenwood City and Cochrane-Fountain City the other teams on the one-seed line. Black Hawk/Warren is the final qualifier as of right now.
8-Player
Assumption takes over the top overall seed in 8-player, with Hurley, Belmont, and Sevastopol the other teams on the one-seed line. Lake Holcombe is the final 8-player qualifier.
