BOUND WISCONSIN WEEK 6 FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Owen Henkel, Freedom
In a battle of the top two teams in the Division 4 Coaches Poll, top-ranked Freedom beat second-ranked Little Chute 49-29. Junior quarterback Owen Henkel was outstanding, completing 20-of-29 passes for 306 yards and four touchdowns.
Kanin Jahnke, Merrill
Merrill took down Antigo 32-27 in a Great Northern Conference contest on Friday. The Bluejays trailed 15-12 at halftime before rallying in the second half. Senior Kanin Jahnke ran 24 times for 271 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 11 yards per carry.
Eli Maier, Mount Horeb/Barneveld
In a battle of two of the three teams that shared the Badger-Small Conference title last year, Mount Horeb/Barneveld defeated Sauk Prairie 26-7. Eli Maier got the scoring started with a 52-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. He’d add a four-yard score in the fourth quarter to help put things away. Maier finished with 278 yards on 32 carries, adding a 12-yard reception, a two-point conversion, four tackles, a fumble recovery, and interception.
Hunter Schaumberg, Lomira
Lomira remained undefeated with a 28-13 win over Laconia Friday night, as the second-ranked Lions are atop the Flyway Conference standings. Sophomore Hunter Schaumberg ran for 260 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries, averaging better than 10 yards per carry. He also caught two passes for 25 yards, tied for the team lead with 10 tackles, had 28 kick return yards, and intercepted two passes on defense.
Daschel Stallings, Elkhorn
Elkhorn took down Waterford 43-35 on Friday behind 409 rushing yards in the team’s Wing-T offense. Junior Daschel Stallings went for 180 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, adding a pair of receptions for 75 yards and two more scores. He also had 40 return yards for the Elks.
Travis Wilson serves as the Bound Wisconsin Manager. Wilson was selected as part of the Sports 40 Under 40 list by Coach & AD Magazine and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association for 2019. The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. A graduate of Richland Center High School and Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Travis was a three-sport athlete in high school (football, baseball, basketball), inducted to the Richland Center High School Hall of Fame in 2023, and currently resides in Reedsburg.
