BOUND WISCONSIN WEEK 8 FOOTBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Appleton East Patriots

Appleton East defeated crosstown rival Appleton North 13-7 on Friday night, marking the first victory for East against North since the 2014 season. Ayden Kruse ran for 206 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries for the Patriots.

Edgewood Crusaders

Edgewood stayed unbeaten and took a huge step towards a Badger-Small Conference title with a 27-20 win over Mount Horeb/Barneveld, as it sets the Crusaders up for a number one seed in the D3 playoffs if they take care of business against Sauk Prairie next week. Senior quarterback Gannon Bagstad, who grew up in the Mount Horeb system, had 141 passing yards and 118 on the ground, accounting for four touchdowns.

Homestead Highlanders

Slinger beat Homestead twice last season en route to a Division 2 state championship, but the Highlanders flipped the script last night, downing Slinger 28-14. Homestead is unbeaten and in control of the North Shore Conference. Senior running back Connor Pangallo ran for 254 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

New Glarus Glarner Knights

New Glarus was upset by Prairie du Chien last week, but there’s a three-way tie atop the Southwest Wisconsin Conference after New Glarus’ 31-30 win over River Valley, with those teams currently tied with Prairie du Chien at 5-1. Matt Roth threw for 253 yards and four touchdowns in the victory, three of the scores going to Tucker Sysko.

West De Pere Phantoms

Friday night was chock full highly competitive, exciting games. Perhaps none more so than the West De Pere versus Bay Port game. Bay Port led early and often, including a 45-28 advantage with less than six minutes remaining in the game. However, buoyed by a pair of onside kick recoveries and an explosive offense, West De Pere made an incredible comeback in a 48-45 win, as senior quarterback Patrick Greisen cemented himself as the Player of the Year frontrunner with 471 passing yards and seven touchdowns.
