Thursday
All game times 7 pm unless otherwise noted.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-1, 1-0; UR) at Grafton (3-0, 1-0; D3 #2) - Wisconsin Lutheran played the closest game against Grafton of any Woodland Conference team last year, falling 43-34 in a contest that saw Grafton have to rally from a fourth quarter deficit. Grafton already has three impressive wins over D3 playoff teams from last year, with a chance at another against a Wisco team that advanced to the state semi-finals.
Oshkosh North (3-0, 1-0; D2 #9) at Menasha (2-1, 1-0; UR) - Oshkosh North has looked very good so far this year and has jumped into the Division 2 top ten of the Bound Wisconsin Coaches Poll. This will likely be their toughest test yet, showing if they are ready to push towards the top of the FRCC-South.
Friday
All game times 7 pm unless otherwise noted.
Madison/Southwest
Clinton (3-0, 1-0; D5 #10) at Turner (3-0, 1-0; UR) - A couple of surprise 3-0 teams meet up in this one, each hoping to continue a hot start. Turner is chasing its first playoff appearance since 2018, while Clinton missed out on the postseason last year as well.
New Glarus (3-0, 1-0; D5 #8) at Richland Center (2-1, 1-0; UR) - Richland Center is coming off an emotional last-second 27-26 win over Lancaster, the Hornets’ first over the Flying Arrows since 2007, that showed they can be a contender in the SWC this year. New Glarus has moved to 3-0 behind a strong defense that has allowed just 12 points all year.
Lourdes Academy (3-0, 1-0; D7 #8) at Johnson Creek (3-0, 1-0; D7 #7) - A big-time early showdown in the Trailways Conference, as both teams are undefeated and ranked in the Division 7 top ten.
Lancaster (2-1, 0-1; UR) vs Platteville (1-2, 0-1; UR) - Lancaster lost a heartbreaker against Richland Center last week while Platteville has put up lots of points (38 ppg) but has just a 1-2 record to show for it so far. This is the 97th meeting between these teams, with Platteville leading 49-45-2 dating back to 1902.
Milwaukee/Southeast
Pewaukee (2-1, 0-1; D3 #7) at Arrowhead (3-0, 1-0; D1 #1) - Arrowhead has looked every bit the top team in the state, and the Warhawks are ranked first in the Division 1 Coaches Poll on Bound Wisconsin. Pewaukee’s final season in the Classic Eight Conference started with a loss to Muskego last week, as the Pirates continue on a brutally tough league schedule.
Waukesha West (2-1, 0-1; UR) at Muskego (2-1, 1-0; D1 #9) - Waukesha West fell to Arrowhead last week, suffering its first loss of the season. Muskego looked very impressive in a running clock win against Pewaukee, as both try to stack up wins in the challenging Classic Eight.
Mukwonago (2-1, 1-0; UR) at Oconomowoc (3-0, 1-0; D1 #10) - Oconomowoc suffered just one conference loss last year, and it came against Mukwonago late in the season.
Brookfield East (3-0, 1-0; D1 #5) at Germantown (2-1, 1-0; UR) - Brookfield East scored a significant upset last week, as the Spartans defeated former second-ranked Hamilton after missing the playoffs the past two seasons. Can the Spartans keep things going against a Germantown team that thinks itself a contender in the Greater Metro Conference as well?
Slinger (2-1, 1-0; D2 #6) at West Bend West (3-0, 1-0; UR) - West Bend West has been one of the pleasant surprises this year, including a win over Cedarburg last week as the Spartans search for their first playoff appearance since 2010. They’ll get an even tougher challenge against defending Division 2 champion Slinger.
Lake Country Lutheran (3-0, 1-0; D5 #3) at Racine St. Catherine’s (2-1, 0-1; D4 #6) - Defending Division 4 state champion Racine St. Catherine’s suffered its first loss of the year last week, a 48-6 blowout against Brown Deer. However, it came with a significant number of players missing after an on-field altercation the week before against Milwaukee Academy of Science. Those players should return this week, and they’ll be needed against a key challenger in the Metro Classic Conference.
Fox Valley
Fond du Lac (2-1, 0-1; UR) at Kimberly (2-1, 1-0; D1 #7) - Fond du Lac suffered its first loss last week, a 15-8 setback against Appleton North. The Cardinals will have to rebound quickly as they travel to a Kimberly team that seems to have gotten things together after an opening three-score loss to Hamilton.
Kaukauna (1-2, 1-0; UR) at Neenah (2-1, 1-0; UR) - There were high expectations for Kaukauna this season, but a couple losses to powerhouses Notre Dame and West De Pere in the non-conference wasn’t the start they’d hoped for. They rebounded against an overmatched Hortonville squad last week, but Neenah will be a significant challenge, as the Rockets have quickly reloaded and look ready to compete at the top of the FVA again.
Luxemburg-Casco (3-0, 1-0; UR) at Wrightstown (3-0, 1-0; D4 #8) - Both teams enter this one unbeaten, as the North Eastern Conference race will get a bit of clarity after Week 4.
Little Chute (2-1, 1-0; UR) at Freedom (3-0, 1-0; D4 #7) - Little Chute has looked good so far this year under new head coach Mark Krommenacker, with the only loss a tight 14-6 defeat against Winneconne back in Week 1. Freedom is undefeated, looking like a strong contender in the North Eastern Conference once again.
Lomira (3-0, 1-0; D6 #5) at Saint Mary’s Springs (2-1, 1-0; D6 #7) - The teams tied, along with Mayville, for the Flyway Conference title a year ago. Lomira defeated Springs 21-7 as the Lions would go on to the Division 6 state championship.
Shawano (0-3, 0-1; UR) vs New London (0-3, 0-1; UR) - Both teams have struggled considerably this year, but this rivalry dates back to 1927, with Shawano holding a 43-35-1 advantage heading into the 80th all-time matchup between the Bay Conference rivals.
North Central
Wisconsin Rapids (0-3, 0-1; UR) at Stevens Point (3-0, 1-0; UR) - Rapids has struggled mightily this year but this rivalry goes back more than a century, with these central Wisconsin powerhouses first meeting in 1912. This marks the 110th meeting in this rivalry, with Stevens Point holding a 58-40-1 advantage.
Mosinee (2-1, 1-0; D4 #10) at Lakeland (3-0, 1-0; UR) - Lakeland has looked good so far, moving to 3-0 with a 43-32 win over rival Rhinelander last week. Mosinee rebounded with a win over Merrill last week, with Treve Stoffel continuing his strong senior season on both sides of the ball, as he leads the team in passing, rushing, tackles, and interceptions.
Stratford (1-2, 1-0; D5 #9) at Wittenberg-Birnamwood (2-1, 1-0; UR) - Stratford won the CWC-Large last year while Wittenberg-Birnamwood was second. Stratford finally got its first win last week and is looking to keep it going in pursuit of another league title.
Eau Claire/Northwest
New Richmond (3-0, 1-0; D2 #4) at Hudson (3-0, 1-0; UR) - Hudson isn’t ranked yet, but the Raiders likely would jump into the Division 1 Coaches Poll if they can knock off New Richmond, the champions of the Big Rivers last season.
Menomonie (2-1, 0-1; UR) at Rice Lake (3-0, 1-0; D2 #3) - Menomonie went down to Hudson last week, 20-8, as the Mustangs are looking to rebound against a Rice Lake squad that just keeps chugging along. The Warriors are off to a 3-0 start coming off of last season’s Division 2 runner-up finish.
Reedsburg (2-1, 0-1; D3 #8) at Onalaska (2-1, 0-1; UR) - Two of the five teams that shared the Mississippi Valley Conference title last year meet up in this one, both coming off losses last week. Reedsburg lost at home to La Crosse Central 35-28, while Onalaska lost a 19-15 decision at Holmen. Ian Kowal has been impressive at quarterback for the Hilltoppers, while the Beavers are second in the state in rushing yards.
Grantsburg (3-0, 1-0; D6 #4) at Cadott (3-0, 1-0; D6 #8) - Grantsburg is coming off a Division 6 runner-up finish a year ago and was expected to be among the top contenders in D6 again. Cadott missed the playoffs last season, but the Hornets are off to a 3-0 start and ranked in the Coaches Poll for the first time in many years.
Saint Croix Falls (2-1, 1-0; UR) at Northwestern (3-0, 1-0; D5 #1) - These have been the top two teams in the Heart O’North Conference for some time, and last year it was Saint Croix Falls who would win the outright league title with a 28-6 win over Northwestern. However, the playoffs were a different story, with Northwestern defeating the Saints 20-8 in a sectional championship.
Pepin/Alma (3-0, 1-0; D7 #9) at Blair-Taylor (3-0, 1-0; UR) - A couple of the top contenders in the Dairyland Conference meet up in a key early league showdown. The teams were part of a three-way tie atop the standings last year along with Cochrane-Fountain City. Pepin/Alma won the head-to-head battle 38-34, rallying twice in the fourth quarter. Blair-Taylor’s Kole Trapp is fifth in the state in passing this season.
