Madison/Southwest
Potosi/Cassville (8-0, 6-0; D7 #2) at Black Hawk/Warren (8-0, 6-0; D7 #3) - What a huge game to end the regular season, as these two teams have dominated the Six Rivers Conference in recent seasons and frequently met in the playoffs as well. In fact, they played in both Week 9 and Level 1 of the playoffs in back-to-back weeks in 2024, with Potosi/Cassville winning both. Both enter undefeated and in the top three of Division 7, with a top seed in the playoffs on the line in addition to an outright league title.
Milton (7-1, 5-1; UR) at Waunakee (8-0, 6-0; D1 #6) - Waunakee is looking to close out an unbeaten regular season, but the Red Hawks of Milton have plenty to play for as well. Milton is just a game behind in the standings, and a win would force a share of the Badger-Large title between the teams.
Cambridge (7-1, 5-1; UR) at Markesan (8-0, 6-0; D6 #6) - Cambridge went down to Marshall a few weeks ago, but the Blue Jays still have a shot at the Eastern Suburban Conference title as they take on league-leading and undefeated Markesan. The Hornets are among the state leaders with 2,555 rushing yards this year.
Sauk Prairie (6-2, 4-2; UR) at Edgewood (8-0, 6-0; D3 #4) - Edgewood scored a huge win over Mount Horeb/Barneveld last week, setting the Crusaders up for a chance at an outright conference championship. They can do that with a win over Sauk Prairie, who is trying to spoil things with a victory and force a three-way tie atop the standings.
Darlington (8-0, 6-0; D6 #3) at Belleville (4-4, 5-1; UR) - Darlington has dominated this year and is looking to close out an undefeated season this week, with just Belleville standing in their way. The Wildcats are in a tie for second currently.
Milwaukee/Southeast
Muskego (7-1, 6-0; D1 #3) at Mukwonago (6-2, 5-1; D1 #10) - Muskego is alone atop the Classic Eight Conference standings heading into this one, but things get really interesting if Mukwonago can score the win, forcing a likely three-way tie for the league championship with Arrowhead. These teams have met not only in some huge regular season showdowns, but also in the playoffs frequently. Mukwonago sent Muskego home in 2021 and 2022, but Muskego got revenge from a regular season defeat last year by knocking off the Indians in a state semi-final.
Badger (8-0, 6-0; D1 #2) at Union Grove (8-0, 6-0; D2 #9) - An undefeated showdown with a pair of ranked teams going after the Southern Lakes Conference. It doesn’t get much bigger than this. Badger has won 21 straight games, the last loss coming in 2021 against…Union Grove. The Badgers defeated the Broncos twice last season.
Lake Country Lutheran (7-1, 5-1; D5 #7) at Martin Luther (6-2, 5-1; UR) - These teams enter Week 9 tied with Racine St. Catherine’s atop the Metro Classic Conference standings, and the winner grabs a share of the league crown, though both did lose to St. Cat’s.
Fox Valley
Notre Dame (8-0, 6-0; D2 #2) at Oshkosh North (8-0, 6-0; D2 #5) - We expected Notre Dame to be in this position, chasing a league title and continuing its dominance from last season’s Division 3 state championship. We didn’t necessarily expect Oshkosh North to be unbeaten heading into Week 9, though the Spartans were certainly on a positive trajectory after qualifying for the playoffs last season. With senior quarterback Bryce Ott leading the charge, the Spartans have a shot at their first conference title in a long time and potentially first playoff victory since a D2 runner-up finish in 2013.
Winneconne (8-0, 6-0; D4 #2) at Seymour (7-1, 6-0; D4 #8) - Winneconne is undefeated, but showed some struggles for the first time in conference play last week against Fox Valley Lutheran, where they held on for a 38-31 victory. Seymour can match the physical running game of the Wolves, and are tied atop the Bay Conference standings heading into the final week of the season, with designs on their own league title.
Luxemburg-Casco (7-1, 5-1; D3 #8) at Freedom (7-1, 5-1; D4 #7) - Little Chute is atop the North Eastern Conference standings and unlikely to stumble against Two Rivers, meaning these teams may be 7-1 overall but likely out of the league title race. However, this is still a big one, with the winner standing a good chance of getting at least two home games in the playoffs.
Green Bay East (2-6, 2-4; UR) at Green Bay West (1-7, 1-5; UR) - This one takes on extra importance as Green Bay East tries for its first playoff appearance since 2007. A win for East puts them on the bubble, but with a strong chance to make the playoffs. This is the 120th meeting in this crosstown rivalry, and the one with the most consecutive years played, going back every year since 1905. East leads 64-52-3 all-time.
North Central
Abbotsford (6-2, 5-1; UR) at Edgar (8-0, 6-0; D6 #1) - Edgar has dominated with four straight shutouts and just 12 points allowed all year, as the Wildcats are once again atop the Marawood/CWC standings. They can close out an undefeated regular season with a win over Abbotsford, who is currently tied for second with Auburndale. Should the Falcons find a way to the upset, it would be a likely three-way tie for the conference crown.
Mosinee (6-2, 5-1; UR) at Medford (3-5, 3-3; UR) - Mosinee is tied with Tomahawk for the top spot in the Great Northern Conference, as the Indians are the only league team to defeat the Hatchets this season. Quarterback Treve Stoffel is approaching 2000 total yards of offense for Mosinee, and also a strong defender as the team works towards a league championship against last season’s winner Medford.
Tomahawk (7-1, 5-1; D4 #6) at Lakeland (5-3, 3-3; UR) - As mentioned above, Tomahawk is currently tied for the Great Northern Conference lead with Mosinee, and the Hatchets can secure no worse than a share of the title against a Lakeland team that is trying to secure a home playoff game with a victory.
Stevens Point (5-3, 3-3; UR) at Marshfield (4-4, 4-2; UR) - Both teams are likely out of the Wisconsin Valley Conference championship race, but both are on the playoff bubble. The winner likely gets in, while the loser will be on the bubble, though Marshfield more likely to get in if they lose than if Stevens Point were to lose. This is the 108th meeting between the teams, with Stevens Point leading 62-36-9.
Eau Claire/Northwest
Hudson (7-1, 5-1; UR) at Rice Lake (7-1, 5-1; D2 #7) - There’s currently a three-way tie for first place in the Big Rivers Conference between these two teams and River Falls. The winner of this one will get at least a share of the conference title, and a home playoff game. The loser may still get a first round home game, but it will be close.
Onalaska (6-2, 4-2; D3 #9) at La Crosse Central (6-2, 6-0; D2 #10) - La Crosse Central holds the outright lead in the Mississippi Valley Conference after defeating Holmen last week. They have a tough one against Onalaska as the Riverhawks try to secure a solo title in the conference.
Holmen (7-1, 5-1; UR) at La Crosse Logan (6-2, 4-2; D3 #10) - Holmen lost to La Crosse Central last week to knock the Vikings out of the top spot in the Mississippi Valley Conference. They have to hope that Onalaska can knock off Central, and the Vikings also have to take care of Logan.
