Milwaukee City-Richardson 2026 Football Preview

Over the next several weeks, we’ll be previewing every conference in the state as part of our preseason preparations.

2025 Recap: Reagan won the outright Richardson Division title last year, going a perfect 7-0 in league play. The Huskies defeated Milwaukee Bradley Tech/Arts in Level 1 of the playoffs before going out to Bay Port the following week. King, Hamilton/Audubon, Pulaski, Riverside, and Bradley Tech/Arts all made the playoffs, as six of the seven league teams did so after dominating the crossovers against the Blackbourn Division, though none were victorious in the postseason.

Note: Milwaukee King moves from the Milwaukee-Richardson to the Southeast this year. Milwaukee Bay View joins from the Milwaukee-Blackbourn, while Milwaukee School of Languages is a new standalone program after previously being part of the Milwaukee Marshall co-op.

Players to Watch:

William Gonzalez-Romo, RB, Milwaukee Pulaski: Gonzalez-Romo was third on the team in rushing last year but still went for 734 yards and nine touchdowns.

Michael Harris, OL, Hamilton: Harris was a First Team All-Conference selection last year and also the league’s co-Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Larry McCain, QB/DB, Bay View: McCain was a First Team All-Conference choice at both quarterback and defensive back last season.

Elijah Quinonez, QB, Riverside/Golda Meir: Quinonez led the team in passing and rushing last year, accounting for more than 1800 yards of offense, earning First Team All-Conference recognition.

Amarii Ward, RB/DB, Reagan: Ward rushed for more than 1000 yards as the league’s Offensive Player of the Year, earning First Team All-Conference on defense as well.

Amir Ward, QB/DB, Reagan: Ward was a First Team All-Conference pick as a quarterback on offense and a utility player on defense.

2026 Team Previews

1) Reagan captured an outright Milwaukee-Richardson Division title last year, as they were clearly the best team among the Milwaukee City Conference schools. They were the only MPS team to win a game outside the city last year, defeating Saint Francis 44-7 in Week 1. They nearly took down New Berlin West the following week. The Huskies beat Bradley Tech in the first playoff game before going out to Bay Port the following week. Head coach Greg Roman has a talented group coming back this year, including eight starters on offense. That includes league Offensive Player of the Year Amarri Ward at running back plus twin brother Amir Ward at quarterback. Co-Offensive Player of the Year Adam Knurr is also returning. The Huskies return nine starters on defense.

2) Hamilton/Audubon went 4-5 overall last year, advancing to the playoffs for a third consecutive season, though they’d go out to Middleton 63-8 in Level 1. Head coach Jei Harris said that the offensive line will be the biggest strength for the team, including league Lineman of the Year Michael Harris. Hamilton returns five starters on offense and four on defense this fall.

3) Riverside/Golda Meir made it back into the playoffs after a one-year absence, as the Tigers program has been one of the most consistent in the Milwaukee City Conference for quite some time. It certainly wasn’t easy, as the Tigers won just three games a a year ago, but were able to sneak in via the new qualification system. They’ll be one of the most experienced teams in the league this season, with nine starters back on both sides of the ball, as they’ll sport 15 seniors on the roster. Quarterback Elijah Quinonez is back after earning First Team All-Conference recognition. Running back Imran Clark and receiver Kingston Lamprecht-Holland also return.

4) Pulaski rode a powerful rushing attack to a 6-4 record and WIAA playoff appearance last season, going out to Verona in Level 1. 1200-yard rusher Atavion Hooker and 800-yard rusher Jaiden Tunstall graduate, but 700-yard rusher William Gonzalez-Romo does return for the Rams co-op program.

5) Bay View won the Milwaukee City-Blackbourn last year, and it earned the Redcats an elevation to the tougher Richardson Division in 2026. They struggled a bit against Richardson teams last year, falling to Pulaski twice and Bradley Tech/Arts as well.

6) Bradley Tech/Arts won the first two games of the year, but went 1-6 in the Milwaukee City-Richardson. However, that still got them into the playoffs, where they’d fall 62-0 to MPS foe Milwaukee Reagan. The key skill players are back this year, including sophomore quarterback Fredrick McClain, leading rusher Jimmie Nickson, and top receiver Ezekiel Carson.

7) Marshall went 4-5 last year, but finished just outside the playoff cut despite closing the season with two victories. It has long been a multi-team co-op, but they lose School of Languages this year, which will pull a number of athletes out. Carmen Northwest, and Milwaukee Juneau are also part of this year’s co-op.

8) School of Languages is a new standalone program after previously competing as part of the Milwaukee Marshall co-op. “While technically a first-year program, Milwaukee School of Languages is far from inexperienced,” said head coach Malcolm Martin. “Over the years, MSL has quietly played a major role in the success of Milwaukee Marshall’s city championship teams, consistently contributing talent and depth to those rosters. Now, the opportunity comes to establish our own identity and culture. The roster is built around a very young core that was sophomore-heavy this past season, meaning the program will enter 2026 with a junior-loaded team that already has valuable varsity experience. Expectations inside the program are high, and the standard being established is one centered around accountability, competition, and development.”
