Thursday, December 4

Winnebago Lutheran v Lomira (D4 #5)

Both of these teams are coming off impressive opening season wins; Lomira beating Horicon, and Winnebago Lutheran knocking off state-ranked Sheboygan Lutheran. Both are the top two contenders in the Flyway. The winner of this game has a step up in the standings very early on in the year.

Notre Dame v Seymour (D3 #5)

Seymour is the fifth-ranked team in the state in Division 3 and will be kicking off its season tonight in this matchup. Notre Dame fell in game one to a strong Neenah squad and is looking to bounce back in a second straight challenging non-conference tilt.

Appleton West v Kaukauna

An FVA conference opener for both, this serves as the first game in a post-Mike Schalow era at Kaukauna. Long-time assistant Ryan Bowers has stepped into the head job with the Galloping Ghosts and tonight is his first test on the bench. The good news for coach Bowers? He has 6-9 forward and DePaul commit Andrew Jensen leading his squad.

Racine Case v Franklin

We get to see two of the top teams in the Southeast conference do battle for a leg up in the second week of the season. In our pre-season projections, these two teams were our top two and for good reason. Franklin is led by senior wing Jacob Misslich who can dominate games with his scoring ability. Case has a great group of underclassmen that pair well with with upperclassmen such as Michael Lewis and Myles McEwen.

Reedsburg at Mount Horeb (D2 #7)

Mount Horeb senior Josh Manchester is one field goal away from becoming the 69th player in the state to surpass 2,000 career points. If he continues the pace he’s set early on this season and similar to last, he’ll likely end up in the top 10 and possibly top 5 in career points in the state. We’ll track Manchester’s progress as the season goes along.

Bonduel (D4 #6) v Iola-Scandinavia (D4 #7)

A top 10 matchup in Division and a conference matchup at that, this game has everything a viewer would want. The slight hiccup? Iola will be without their star junior wing Alex Robbins as he recovers from an early season injury. Bonduel looked dominant in its first win of the year and have a great group back led by senior Ryan Westrich and junior Quinn Wesenberg.

Waukesha North v Wisconsin Lutheran (D1 #1)

Wisco looks all the bit of the top ranked team in Division 1 this season, coming off a huge victory over out-of-state Pike to start the year. Waukesha North comes over to the Woodland conference from the Classic Eight and will get its first taste of league action in this one. North is coming off a win over Mukwonago on opening night.

Marathon v Rib Lake (D4 #4)

Two very good teams from either division of the Marawood will square off in this cross-conference matchup. Rib Lake is debuting its season while Marathon is coming off a really impressive opening game win over Regis in which senior Drew Woelfel led the Red Raiders with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Arrowhead (D1 #6) v Catholic Memorial (D2 #5)

This is a top matchup between two ranked teams in the Classic Eight and we’re getting it in week 2. Arrowhead knocked off Whitefish Bay in game on Tuesday while Catholic Memorial fell to Oconomowoc. Both of these teams are contenders in the conference. Both are good picks to make deep runs in the playoffs. This early December matchup is a great one, as will the second matchup in late January.

Waukesha West v Oak Creek

Oak Creek is now a part of the Classic Eight conference after moving over from the Southeast this past offseason. The Knights will get the first league game on Friday night against a very good Waukesha West team.

New Berlin West v East Troy (at Waterford Tournament)

West will be coming off a game Friday night against cross-town rival New Berlin Eisenhower. East Troy is 2-0 and has been impressive in both wins this year. This neutral site contest is likely to be one of the more competitive games of the weekend.

Madison Memorial (D1 #3) v Verona

Two of the top contenders in the Big Eight will square off in a Saturday conference matchup that hoop junkies will want to tune in to. Memorial returns a plethora of talent from last years’ squad including senior twins and Bradley baseball commits Ezra and Caleb Liggon. Despite the graduation of a strong 2025 class, Verona has a good group of returnees with some talented underclassmen.

West Allis Central (D1 #2) v Milwaukee Juneau (D4 #1) at St. Augustine Prep

Two incredibly talented squads will square off in this neutral site matchup. West Allis Central already has a victory over Nicolet under its belt, and has a handful of next level recruits on the roster, headlined by Iowa State commit and senior wing Yusef Gray Jr. Juneau put up 128 points in their opening season win and are led by Gonzaga commit Dooney Johnson, one of the top players in the Class of 2027 in the entire country.

Nicolet (D2 #4) v Milwaukee Academy of Science (D2 #3) at St. Augustine Prep

This one will close out the St. Augustine Prep tournament in style as both of these squads are ranked in the top five in Division 2 currently. Both have college players up and down the roster. Both play fast, score in bunches, and don’t let off the gas. If you like basketball, get to St. Augustine Prep this weekend.
