Sawyer Dahl, Frederic, freshman

Dahl had a great night shooting the ball as Frederic got a 70-53 win over Drummond. The freshman was nearly perfect from behind the arc, finishing with seven made threes on eight attempts en route to his 27 points.

Owen Gulke & Carter Schmitz, Cedar Grove-Belgium

These two teammates hit career milestones in the same game, a 69-57 win over NEWCHAA. Gulke came into the season having already scored 1,000 points in his career, but Monday night he surpassed 1,500 career wit his 19 points. Schmitz on the other hand joined the 1,000 point club, scoring 20 points.

David Johnson, Hillsboro, senior

Johnson has been on an absolute tear rebounding the ball as of late, something we mentioned on the Baseline Banter podcast this past week. In a 78-70 win over Luther, the senior big man finished with 28 points and 22 rebounds, improving his 14.1 rebounds per game total on the season.

Thomas Kaquatosh, Gresham, junior

Another huge double-double performance in the state, Kaquatosh was integral to Gresham scoring a 65-50 win over Wild Rose. The junior finished with 16 points and added an eye-popping 24 rebounds.

Malachi McCauley, Kickapoo, senior

McCauley can light it up on the court and the hard work and longevity of his time on varsity has led him to 1,000 career points. In a 99-27 win over Weston, McCauley scored 12 points to cross the milestone, while also helping Kickapoo clinch the Ridge & Valley conference title outright for the first time in over 30 years.

Jayden Schoepp, Richland Center, junior

Schoepp came into last week having not recorded 30 points in a game before. Monday night, he did it for the second time in as many games. A young man that I get the pleasure to coach, finished with 30 points in an 80-75 loss to Platteville. Schoepp buried nine shots from deep in this one, making seven in the second half to fuel the Hornets comeback.

Boden Breunig, Sauk Prairie, senior

Tied at 51 with under ten seconds left, Breunig had the ball in his hand with a chance to make a moment in one of his final regular season basketball games. He did just that. The senior guard drove to the hoop, absorbed the contact, and finished at the rim to give Sauk a 53-51 win over Stoughton.

Brody Gilbertson, Wisconsin Rapids, senior

Gilbertson has been a bright spot for the Wisconsin Rapids basketball team this season. The senior is a strong, athletic, and skilled wing that on Tuesday night, put his name squarely in the Rapids record book. In a 71-66 win over Chippewa Falls, Gilbertson surpassed the previous scoring record of 1,217 to become the program’s new all-time scorer.

Just a sophomore, Navis is the newest member of the 1,000 point club. The talented sophomore scored 25 points in Mauston’s 49-32 win over Westfield, inching one step closer to a South Central conference title.

Palmyra-Eagle Game Winner

It was pure madness at the end of the Palmyra-Eagle and Saint Ambrose game on Tuesday night, culminating in a wild game winner. After calling a timeout, Palmyra inbounded from the coaches box line on the sideline, down one, with one second left. Ryan Brodzik threw a high arching lob to the opposite side of the rim where Justin Thomas caught in mid air and finished, giving the Panthers a 58-57 victory.

Brayden Phillips, East Troy, senior

East Troy got a huge win over Monroe on Tuesday night to put itself squarely in the drivers seat for a conference title. The Trojans did so in thrilling fashion. Playing out of the pick and roll, Brayden Phillips set a screen, rolled to the hoop, and hit the game-winning bucket as time expired to give East Troy a 48-47 win.

Alex Robbins, Iola-Scandinavia, junior

Back from injury, Robbins and Iola-Scandinavia have been rolling. The skilled, lanky wing hit 1,000 career points on Tuesday night, doing so in a 94-59 win over Rosholt.

Ryan Walz, Wisconsin Lutheran

Coach Walz leads arguably the best basketball team in the state, and one that is coming off of back-to-back state championships. Tuesday night, he got a career win that put himself in the Wisconsin Lutheran record books. The Vikings won 71-48 over Pius XI Catholic, which was Coach Walz’ 364 in his career. He is now the winningest coach in program history.
