Ryan Brodzik of Palmyra-Eagle has been selected as the Week 1 Bound Wisconsin Basketball Player of the Week following a statewide vote on BoundWisconsin.com. He knocked down a buzzer-beat to lift the team to big opening win. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 1. A total of 2,704 votes were cast, as Brodzik’s 1,095 were enough to edge out second place Brooklyn Love of Dominican, who tallied 1,056 votes.
Palmyra-Eagle boys basketball opened the season with a 58-55 victory over Catholic Central, withstanding a 38-point effort from Samuel Fait. Senior Ryan Brodzik had a nice floor game, scoring 12 points with five rebounds and five assists, adding three steals and a block as well. Brodzik gave us the first opening week sparks, when he buried a fade away three-pointer as time expired to give the Panthers the opening night victory.
Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Bound Wisconsin Basketball Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for next week’s nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
