Neillsville Boys Basketball

The Neillsville boys basketball team won a pair of games at the Cranberry Classic over the weekend. On Friday, the Warriors downed Assumption 78-66 behind Andrew Hoeser’s 28 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Last Monday, the Flying Dutch took down a very good Winneconne team 75-48, then headed to the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout. While Saturday’s game against Pewaukee was postponed, Oostburg did face off against Notre Dame on Friday. Sophomore Soraya Benton made a free throw with 0.2 seconds left to lift the team to a 43-42 victory.

Regis Girls Basketball

Regis is out to a 4-0 start and ranked first in the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports Girls Basketball Media Poll to begin the year. The Ramblers won the Tom Kislow Memorial Tournament at Medford over the weekend. First, they defeated Rhinelander 76-55 on Friday then knocked off Crandon 77-44 on Saturday. Junior EllaMay Cooper combined for 58 points in the two games.

Superior Boys Basketball

Superior won the Wausau East Thanksgiving Shootout over the weekend. The Spartans defeated D.C. Everest 76-61 on Friday then followed that up with an 80-52 victory against host Wausau East on Saturday. They’ll face Grand Rapids (MN) and Chippewa Falls in home games this week.

Waunakee Girls Basketball

Waunakee won the Badger-Large Conference title a year ago and are shaping up to be one of the top teams in the league again this year. They’ll head into conference play this week, but scored an impressive 66-48 win over Wisconsin Lutheran at the Kettle Moraine Thanksgiving Classic on Friday.
