Bound Wisconsin Week 1 Football Player of the Week Nominees

Kingston Allen, Notre Dame

Playing behind 3000-yard rusher Christian Collins last year, Notre Dame running back Kingston Allen got limited opportunities to make his mark for the D3 state champions. He has all the tools to be special, however, and showed that in Week 1 with 251 yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries as the Tritons took down Kaukauna 27-20 in an impressive opening victory.

Ian Kowal, Onalaska

Onalaska has faced off with West Salem in both regular season and postseason contests with great regularity over the years, with some outstanding games played between the neighboring La Crosse-area schools. Onalaska lost a lot to graduation while West Salem had high hopes coming into the season, but it was Onalaska that pulled away for a 35-26 victory. Senior quarterback Ian Kowal threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, completing 19-of-26 passes along the way.

Jack Nelson, Grafton

It was a showdown of top teams in Division 3, as Grafton welcomed in Mount Horeb/Barneveld for a Week 1 non-conference matchup. The Black Hawks scored an impressive 24-7 victory, as junior running back Jack Nelson ran for 169 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, adding a 16-yard reception as well.

Jacob Osmanski, Sussex Hamilton

Sussex Hamilton was extremely impressive to open the season, taking it to Kimberly 42-21 behind a big third quarter. First year starting quarterback Jacob Osmanski hit on a number of big plays for the Chargers, completing 18-of-31 passes for 306 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Matt Stevens, Bay Port

Defending Division 1 state champion Bay Port opened with a tough game against a very good Middleton squad, and it turned out to be one of the top games of the week. The fourth quarter was back-and-forth, but Bay Port held on to secure a 39-36 victory. Returning quarterback Matt Stevens had himself a day, completing 15-of-21 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns, adding 82 yards and a score on the ground as well.
