
The Superior Spartans have been selected as the Week 1 Bound Wisconsin Football Team of the Week following a statewide vote on BoundWisconsin.com. The team ended a lengthy losing streak to open the 2026 season. The Spartans were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 1. A total of 4,590 votes were cast, as Superior’s 1,546 votes edged Racine Case’s 1,357 votes.
Superior defeated Eau Claire North 58-28 on Thursday night, ending the Spartans’ 29-game losing streak. Superior had last tasted victory on September 30, 2022 vs. Eau Claire Memorial. In Thursday night’s win, senior running back Maxton Luzaich had a huge game with 304 yards and seven touchdowns on 30 carries.

Travis Wilson serves as the Bound Wisconsin Manager. Wilson was selected as part of the Sports 40 Under 40 list by Coach & AD Magazine and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association for 2019. The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. A graduate of Richland Center High School and Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Travis was a three-sport athlete in high school (football, baseball, basketball), inducted to the Richland Center High School Hall of Fame in 2023, and currently resides in Reedsburg.
