Bound Wisconsin Week 2 Football Player of the Week Nominees

Maverick Butt, Edgar
In one of the best rivalries in state history, Edgar found itself in a dogfight with Stratford, as both teams have won multiple state titles in a row. However, it was Edgar that came out on top 14-0, as senior Maverick Butt finished with 126 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. He also had an interception on defense.

Mason Henschel, Fond du Lac
Fond du Lac has struggled out of the gates the last few years, but the Cardinals are now 2-0 after after a 17-3 victory over Marquette in Week 2, with senior running back Mason Henschel doing the heavy lifting, carrying the ball 48 times for 302 yards and two touchdowns.

Jack Hoeper, Spencer/Columbus Catholic
Spencer/Columbus Catholic defeated Pittsville 49-34 on Friday night, as senior Jack Hoeper had a huge game, rushing for 441 yards and seven touchdowns on 33 carries. His yardage is tied for the tenth-most in a single game in state history.

Brock Matheny, Grantsburg
Grantsburg moved to 2-0 on the season with a 46-30 win over Saint Croix Falls in a showdown of ranked teams in northwest Wisconsin. Senior quarterback Brock Matheny threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns, completing 16-of-27 passes. He’d score twice on the ground as well.

Joseph Tarasewicz, River Falls
It was an offensive bonanza for River Falls on Thursday night as the Wildcats downed defending Wisconsin Valley Conference champion D.C. Everest 54-21. The team racked up 598 yards of offense, including 210 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries by senior running back Joseph Tarasewicz. He’d add three catches for 32 yards as well.
