Updated Wisconsin Football Playoff Matrix rankings have been posted, and it’s time to take a look at some of the noteworthy changes and movement after last week’s results.

The unofficial results are courtesy of andylavoy.com/football, and the full point totals and rankings for all divisions can be found there. Official point totals are kept by the WIAA.

As a reminder, 32 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, with the top four in each division receiving a one-seed, the next four receiving a two-seed, and so on.

Remember, there are thousands of games remaining on the schedule this year, with lots of changes ahead in the order, and things will smooth out the more results that are in the system.

DIVISION 1

Hamilton’s loss to Brookfield East drops the Chargers out of the top spot, with Arrowhead now the leader in D1. The other number one seeds this week are Brookfield East, Oconomowoc, and Hudson. Sheboygan North is the final playoff qualifier in Division 1.

DIVISION 2

Some jostling in the top of the Division 2 point totals has Homestead as the top overall seed in Division 2, as Holmen, Notre Dame, and Union Grove are the other number one seeds. Milton slides from the top overall seed last week to fifth, and a two-seed on the bracket. West Allis Central (1-2) narrowly has the last qualifying spot as of this week, just ahead of 2-1 Racine Horlick.

DIVISION 3

New Berlin West has been impressive in the early going, including wins over some larger competition. The Vikings move to the top this week, in a virtual tie with Grafton. Plymouth and La Crosse Logan are the other number one seeds. Onalaska remains the sixth overall seed despite a close loss to Holmen last week. Greendale is the final qualifier, edging out a host of other teams with 1-2 records.

DIVISION 4

Aquinas takes over the top spot in the Division 4 Matrix, with the team they beat last week, Columbus, actually moving up a couple spots to third overall. In addition to Aquinas and Columbus, Winneconne and Waupun are the other number one seeds if the playoffs started today. Wrightstown and Freedom tie for the final spot in the playoffs despite 3-0 records, though they’ll certainly move up as North Eastern Conference play continues.

DIVISION 5

Grantsburg moves up one spot to the top overall seed in Division 5 this week, with Clinton slipping from number one down to number six. The other number seeds (top four in the division) are Northwestern, Lake Country Lutheran, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Barron is the final qualifier.

DIVISION 6

Manitowoc Lutheran stays atop the Division 6 Matrix this week, with Edgar, Cambridge, and Mondovi the other number one seeds. No teams with two wins would be out of the playoff field.

DIVISION 7

Wauzeka/Seneca moves up one spot to number one overall in the Division 7 Matrix rankings this week, with Johnson Creek, Kenosha St. Joseph, and Black Hawk/Warren the other top seeds.

8-Player

A reminder that 8-player expands to 32 qualifiers this year, creating some really strong competition throughout the division. Oakfield is on top, with Gilman, Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas, and McDonell Central the other top seeds. Unbeaten teams Tri-County and Valley Christian sneak in as the last qualifiers.
