Updated UNOFFICIAL Wisconsin Football Playoff Matrix rankings have been posted, and it’s time to take a look at some of the noteworthy changes and movement after last week’s results.

The unofficial results are courtesy of andylavoy.com/football, and the full point totals and rankings for all divisions can be found there. Official point totals are kept by the WIAA.

As a reminder, 32 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, with the top four in each division receiving a one-seed, the next four receiving a two-seed, and so on.

Remember, there are thousands of games remaining on the schedule this year, with lots of changes ahead in the order, and things will smooth out the more results that are in the system.

DIVISION 1

A significant change in Division 1, as Arrowhead’s loss to Muskego drops the Warhawks from the top overall seed, though they would still be a one-seed if the playoffs started this week. Hudson moves up to the number one overall seed, with Muskego jumping up in the final top seed in Division 1. Oregon is the final qualifier, while 4-1 Stevens Point is just outside the top 32 for right now due to a schedule that includes victories over teams that have a combined one win so far. Sheboygan North is in a similar situation.

DIVISION 2

Holmen leaps to the top overall seed in Division 2, with Notre Dame, Homestead, and Monona Grove the other number one unofficial seeds. At the bottom, Nicolet is team 32 and the final qualifier as of right now in Division 2.

DIVISION 3

Grafton remains the top overall seed in Division 3, with Luxemburg-Casco, New Berlin West, and Catholic Memorial also sitting as number one seeds this week. Reedsburg’s loss to Holmen, the new top overall seed in Division 2, caused the Beavers to slide from a two-seed to a three-seed this week.

DIVISION 4

Not a ton of change in Division 4, with Aquinas and Winneconne still the top two overall, while Evansville does slide up into a one-seed position, along with Columbus. Wrightstown is 4-1 but the final qualifier as of right now in D4, as the Tigers have yet to get into the meat of their schedule, though big games loom against Little Chute and Freedom the next two weeks that have the opportunity to rack up points quickly.

DIVISION 5

Amherst jumps to the top of the Division 5 unofficial Matrix standings this week, coming off a nice win over previously undefeated Loyal/Greenwood. Grantsburg, Tomahawk, and Lake Country Lutheran are the other number one seeds currently, with Northwestern not far behind as the highest-rated two-seed. Spooner is currently the final qualifier in the unofficial Division 5 field.

DIVISION 6

Manitowoc Lutheran stays atop the Division 6 Matrix this week, with Edgar close behind once again. Cambirdge and Regis are the other number one seeds as of right now. Crandon would qualify with a 1-4 record thanks to a win against Division 4 team Northland Pines (3-2) last week.

DIVISION 7

Kenosha St. Joseph has a huge advantage in the Division 7 rankings once again, while Lourdes Academy, Cochrane-Fountain City, and Johnson Creek would be the other top seeds. Iola-Scandinavia and Manawa tie for the final two qualifying spots.

8-Player

Oakfield gets the top spot in the Matrix this week, as the Oaks’ loss to Algoma a couple weeks ago was a replacement game that is not considered for seeding, instead they get the points from a forfeit win that week against Princeton/Green Lake. Flambeau is also a number one seed, along with Gilmian and Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas. Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah and Wayland Academy would currently tie for the final two qualifying spots.
