Deacon Vierck has been selected as the Week 7 Bound Wisconsin Football Player of the Week following a statewide vote on BoundWisconsin.com. His big day helped the Vikings upset the state’s second-ranked team. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 7. A total of 5,206 votes were cast, as Vierck’s 2,323 were enough to edge out second place Trent Breitbach of Stevens Point, who tallied 1,513 votes.

What a Homecoming it was for Wisconsin Lutheran, who took down previously unbeaten and D2 second-ranked Homestead 36-35 in overtime. Senior Deacon Vierck scored on the Viking’s first possession in overtime on a four-yard run and the conversion was good. Wisconsin Lutheran then stopped a conversion on the Homestead possession to preserve the win. Vierck ran for 187 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries and added a two-point conversion.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Bound Wisconsin Football Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for next week’s nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
