Football Class of 2027 Player Rankings: Specialists

Over the next few weeks we will be releasing our Player Rankings for the football Class of 2027. Player rankings are compiled by Bound Wisconsin football writer Travis Wilson and are based on a combination of college potential, recruiting interest/offers, in-person evaluations, film evaluations, coach evaluations, stats, post-season awards, and more.

1. Evan Wozniak, Arrowhead – Wozniak was First Team All-Conference and WFCA Large School All-State as a punter last season, when he averaged more than 42 yards per punt for the Division 1 state champions. He’s also outstanding on kickoffs, with 41 touchbacks on 64 kickoffs. Wozniak is a five-star punter by Kohl’s Kicking. He’s an excellent all-around athlete, ranked in the top ten of our defensive backs rankings. He has given a commitment to punt at North Dakota State.

2. Maddux Hermus, Kimberly – Hermus took home First Team All-Conference recognition as a punter and kicker last season for the Papermakers, adding WFCA Honorable Mention All-State as a punter. Also a starting receiver, he connected on nine-of-13 field goals with a long of 45 yards, and also made 31-of-32 extra points. He boomed touchbacks on 22-of-30 kickoffs, while averaging nearly 41 yards per punt. Hermus was a First Team All-State pitcher on the baseball team.

3. Grady Cheever, Germantown – Cheever handled the kicking duties for the Warhawks last season. A First Team All-Conference selection in the Greater Metro, he made six-of-seven field goal attempts as well as 36-of-39 extra point tries.

4. Caleb Breunig, Sauk Prairie – Breunig served as the kicker and punter for the Eagles as a junior. He was a First Team All-Conference selection as a kicker, making seven-of-eight field goal attempts. He also was good on 24-of-28 extra points and showed a good leg on kickoffs. Breunig averaged 37 yards per punt.

5. Owen Richardson, Wisconsin Rapids – Richardson has a booming leg, earning First Team All-Conference recognition in the Wisconsin Valley Conference after averaging an impressive 47 yards per punt.

6. Max Contreras, Racine Lutheran – Contreras was the First Team All-Conference kicker in the Midwest Classic-Large last season. On the year, he connected on six-of-seven field goal attempts with a long of 45, and also was good on 32-of-36 extra points. He did some punting as well, averaging 34 yards per attempt.

7. Austin Heling, Shawano – Heling was First Team All-Conference as a punter last season and Second Team All-Conference as a kicker. He averaged 41 yards per punt and made two-of-four field goals and seven-of-eight extra points last year and was the team’s leading receiver.

8. Sean Lemke, Homestead – Lemke is a five-star long-snapper by Kohl’s Kicking Camps, ranked eighth in the country, and has received an offer from Colgate to go with a wide range of college interest.

9. Adrik Nellis, Brookfield Central – Nellis is also ranked by Kohl’s Kicking Camps as a five-star long-snapper, and ninth in the country. He has given a commitment to Minnesota-Duluth.

10. Evans Bartell, Verona – The Big Eight Conference always has some excellent specialists, and last season Bartell took home First Team All-Conference recognition as a kicker. He was good on all three of his field goal attempts, as well as 40-of-45 extra points. He produced ten touchbacks on kickoffs.
