Over the next few weeks we will be releasing our Player Rankings for the football Class of 2027. Player rankings are compiled by Bound Wisconsin football writer Travis Wilson and are based on a combination of college potential, recruiting interest/offers, in-person evaluations, film evaluations, coach evaluations, stats, post-season awards, and more.
PREVIOUSLY RELEASED CLASS OF 2027 PLAYER RANKINGS
Class of 2027 Tight End/Fullbacks:
2. Joey Massey, Notre Dame – Massey is part of a really talented senior class at Notre Dame, and emerged as a key figure in the passing game last season for the Tritons, when he was second on the team with 16 catches for 352 yards and three touchdowns. Massey is a strong, explosive athlete, reporting a 40-yard dash time of 4.631 seconds with a 33” vertical, 370-pound bench press, and 550-pound squat. An outstanding blocker in the powerful Notre Dame rushing attack, Massey gave a commitment to Iowa State last month.
3. Mac Johnson, Waunakee – Johnson played multiple positions on both offense and defense for the Warriors last year, though he eventually moved to offensive tackle for much of the year, where he earned First Team All-Conference recognition. It remains to be seen where his college future lies, but we’ll rank him at tight end for right now. In limited chances last season, he did catch a pair of touchdowns, after catching 18 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns as a full-time tight end in his sophomore campaign. Johnson holds offers from Western Illinois, Butler, Drake, St. Thomas, and multiple Division 2 programs.
4. Justin Roy, Sun Prairie East – Roy played at Mukwonago last fall, where he lined up at tight end with WFCA Honorable Mention All-State choice Luka Tess. He caught 13 passes for 139 yards, still, and proved himself as a strong college option. Roy will make the move to Sun Prairie East this fall, where he’ll look to continue the college lineage of older brothers Ben and Nathan, who each play Division 1 football. Justin holds an offer from Eastern Illinois, with more expected if he gets off to a strong start to the season.
5. Parker Roh, McFarland – Roh generally lines up as an h-back for the Spartans, but is very involved in the passing game. He led the team with 43 catches for 581 yards and seven scores a year ago. At 6’5” and 215 pounds, he is a tough cover in the passing game and has the size and attitude to be effective as a blocker in the running game as well.
6. Aidan Lisowski, Cochrane-Fountain City – Lisowski is a load in the backfield for the Pirates, who finished as the Division 7 state runners-up a year ago. He was the team’s leading rusher with 1,019 yards and 11 touchdowns on the year, as opposing defenses struggle to stop the 6’1”, 215-pounder. He’s also a sledgehammer as a lead blocker for the Pirates, and doubles as an outstanding defensive end in the team’s odd front.
7. Cole Kuhn, Plymouth – Kuhn is a standout on offense and defense, earning First Team All-Conference as an h-back/tight end and defensive end. While not the primary ball-carrier, the Panthers did try to get the ball into his hands when they could, as he racked up 44 carries for 228 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 25 passes for 302 yards and four scores. He lined up all over the offensive formation – tailback, fullback, h-back, slot, and even wildcat quarterback.
8. Eli Krueger, McFarland – Krueger is best known as one of the state’s elite basketball players, with multiple Division 1 college offers on the hardwood so far. But he has also continued to standout on the football field, which is easy to do at 6’9”, 220 pounds. Lining up out wide and as an in-line tight end, Krueger caught 26 passes for 450 yards and nine touchdowns last year and teams with h-back Parker Roh for one of the top big man pass-catching combos in the state.
9. Jaxon Sabel, Saint Mary’s Springs – Sabel is an impressive pass catcher and big play threat for the Ledgers, catching 19 passes for a team-high 397 yards and five touchdowns a year ago, averaging more than 20 yards per reception. Sabel is a very capable blocker as well and earned First Team All-Conference last season.
10. Josh Taylor, Marshfield – If you’re looking for a fullback, they don’t much more old school than Marshfield’s Josh Taylor. As a lead blocker, he’s on a seek and destroy mission to take out defenders, and at 5’10”, 220 pounds, he packs quite the punch. Taylor did show he could get more than just a battering ram, however, rushing for a couple touchdowns and also catching 13 passes out of the backfield. He played in the defensive line rotation as well.
Others to Watch:
Kallen Barker, Reedsburg
Logan Cisewski, Stevens Point
Wylie Cornwell, Assumption
Billy Gibson, Lakeside Lutheran
Tray Harris, Madison Memorial
Jackson Kidd, Waunakee
