March Madness is in full swing not just in our state, but the entire country. The high school boys basketball season concludes this week at the state tournament in Madison but the NCAA Tournament is about to begin, with the first four games being played Tuesday and Wednesday and the Round of 64 to start on Thursday morning.

As it is every year, there will be plenty of former players from the state of Wisconsin that excelled on the high school scene in our great state. 20 former players from schools across the state will play in the tournament of tournaments for 11 different colleges.

Below is a snippet on each of those players that finished their prep careers in Wisconsin. The full list can be seen in a table at the bottom of this article.

Amari Allen, Ashwaubenon (4-seed Alabama)

Allen was an all-state selection at Ashwaubenon a season ago and has been one of the best freshman in the SEC this season at Alabama. In his first season in college, he has been named to the All-SEC Freshman Team after averaging 11.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. He’s started every game since December third and helped Alabama to a 23-9 record and a second place finish in the SEC.

Leon Bond III, Wauwatosa East (12-seed Northern Iowa)

Bond was a state champion at Wauwatosa East in 2021 and spent his first two seasons at Virginia with coach Tony Bennett, before transferring to UNI before the 2024-25 season. This season Bond has started every game for the Panthers, averaging 11.9 points per game, second best on the team. He’s added 4.8 rebounds per game as well and was a top-notch defender, having been named to the All-Defensive Team in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Noah Feddersen, Menomonie (14-seed North Dakota State)

Feddersen was the Big Rivers Player of the Year as a senior and WBCA All-State Honorable Mention selection. He’s in year four with the Bison and has started games in all three seasons played to this point. This year he’s started 16 of 34 games and is averaging 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Isaac Gard, Oregon (5-seed Wisconsin)

Gard was a two-year starter at Oregon before walking on to play for his father and Badgers head coach Greg Gard at Wisconsin. He’s been a scout team player with the Badgers over the past four seasons and has scored 14 points in the 37 games he’s gotten in to.

Will Garlock, Middleton (5-seed Wisconsin)

Garlock missed a majority of his senior year at Middleton due to injury but was still named a WBCA honorable mention All-State selection. In his first year at Madison, he’s turned heads in practice and has appeared in 30 of the games for the Badgers this season, averaging 1.1 points per game in 6.8 minutes.

Davion Hannah, Nicolet (4-seed Alabama)

Hannah was an all-state selection a season ago at Nicolet and now teams with fellow alumni and freshman Amari Allen at Alabama. Hannah has not played in a game for the Crimson Tide since December 17 due to a medical condition. He did have a game high 12 points in 16 minutes against Maryland in mid-December.

Myles Herro, Whitnall (8-seed Ohio State)

Herro was a first team All-Woodland selection as a senior at Whitnall. He chose to walk on at Ohio State following graduation. Herro did not appear in any games with the Buckeyes this year and will likely use it as a redshirt season.

In his second season at Northern Iowa, he has started every game and is third on the team in scoring at 11.2 points per game, also adding 4.6 rebounds. Hornseth along with Bond and Weisbrod is a big reason why Northern Iowa, who finished sixth in the MVC regular season standings, went on a run to win the MVC Tournament Title and clinch a spot in the Madness. Hornseth was also named to the Most Improved Team in the MVC this year.

Jayden Jackson, Whitefish Bay (13-seed Cal Baptist)

Zach Kinziger, De Pere (5-seed Wisconsin)

Kinziger was a state champion as a sophomore, second on the all-time scoring list, and a WBCA First Team All-State selection while at De Pere. In his first year at Wisconsin he initially redshirted, but forewent that designation. Kinziger has appeared in 16 games, playing a total of 76 minutes, and scoring 21 points.

Amari McCottry, Saint Thomas More (9-seed Saint Louis)

McCottry was a state champion and WBCA All-State selection at Saint Thomas More his senior season, where he scored 2,284 career points. Xzavion Mitchell, Oshkosh North (2-seed Iowa State)

Mitchell was Mr. Basketball in Wisconsin a season ago and led his Spartans to a state tournament appearance. He didn’t crack the lineup for the Cyclones this year, but Iowa State has been one of the top teams in the nation and has a deep front court. Mitchell has appeared in seven games and accumulated seven points, including six in a win over Grambling in early November.

Milan Momcilovic, Pewaukee (2-seed Iowa State)

Momcilovic was a three-time state champion and Mr. Basketball recipient during his time at Pewaukee High School. In his first three seasons at Iowa State, he has been named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team and All-Tournament Team. This year Momcilovic leads the Cyclones in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game while shooting 50% from three. He’s scored over 1,300 in his career in Ames. Momcilovic was named a Second Team All-Big 12 honoree this year.

Anthony Rise, Brookfield Central (2-seed Iowa State)

Rise was a First Team All-State selection by the WBCA a season ago and is in his freshman walk on season with Iowa State. Rise has appeared in ten games for the Cyclones and scored his first collegiate points in a game against Colorado on January 29.
