It is time to take a look at this week’s Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports Girls Basketball Media Poll. Voting is conducted by a panel of statewide media members.
Division 1
Arrowhead was a state semi-finalist last year, and with Minnesota commit Natalie Kussow returning, the Warhawks get the nod atop the Division 1 media poll to begin the season. Last year’s champion Kimberly is second, followed by Stevens Point. Wauwatosa East won it all in D2 last year but is elevated to Division 1 this season, and the Red Raiders open the season at number four.
Division 2
With defending champion Wauwatosa East moved up to Division 1, there are plenty of openings in Division 2. To begin the year, Edgewood is the top-ranked team in the media poll after a one-point loss to Tosa East in last year’s D2 title game. Rice Lake, led by senior Badger commit Adaline Sheplee, is second, followed in the top five by Xavier, Beaver Dam, and Whitefish Bay.
Division 3
Defending state champion Oostburg has plenty of talent returning this season and is the overwhelming favorite in the Week 1 Division 3 Girls Basketball Media Poll, presented by Bound Wisconsin and Zaleski Sports. Edgerton, Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Wisconsin Dells, and Winneconne round out the top five.
Division 4
Cuba City won the Division 4 state title a year ago, but the Cubans are elevated to D3 in 2025-26. None of last year’s state qualifiers are in the top ten of Division 4 to begin the year, as Regis gets the slight edge over Neillsville for the number one position. Valders is third, followed by Manitowoc Lutheran and Stratford.
Division 5
In the state’s smallest division, the defending champion Assumption Royals are the top-ranked squad with 95 points, but Argyle/Pecatonica is nipping at their heels, coming in second with 93 points. Third-ranked Pacelli isn’t far behind either, with Eleva-Strum and Sheboygan Lutheran rounding out the top five.
