Bound Wisconsin Basketball Team of the Week - Feb. 23-March 1

Belmont BBB

Belmont scored a 51-49 overtime win against Potosi/Cassville, giving the Braves an outright Six Rivers-West Conference title. It’s one of the most successful seasons in school history. Sophomore Thomas Freeman had a big game, scoring 25 points with eight rebounds and four assists.

Rhinelander BBB

Rhinelander grabbed a share of the Great Northern Conference title in the regular season finale. In a showdown against conference-leading Mosinee, the Hodags came out with a narrow 75-73 victory, as both teams finish 13-1 in league play. Senior Devon Feck led the way with 33 points.

Stevens Point BBB

Stevens Point forced its way to a three-way tie for the Wisconsin Valley Conference title, beating D.C. Everest 72-63 on Thursday, as the two teams join Marshfield in finishing 8-2 atop the league standings. Sam Kornowski led the team with 22 points, while Jackson Bouressa added 19 and Sivan Dinga 13 points.

Westosha Central GBB

Westosha Central is the biggest Cinderella remaining in the girls basketball playoffs. The 13th-seeded Falcons beat four-seed Muskego 59-54 in the first regional game, then followed that up with a 59-51 victory against Oak Creek in Saturday’s regional final.

Whitnall GBB

Whitnall won a couple very competitive games to advance into the girls basketball sectionals. The Falcons beat Martin Luther 65-63 behind a game-high 21 points from senior Riley Ward. It was a 62-51 win in a regional final game against New Berlin Eisenhower, with Ward pouring in 28 points.

He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
