Bound Wisconsin Basketball Player of the Week - Jan. 5-11

Calvin Bahr, Aquinas BBB

The Aquinas boys basketball team scored a trio of victories last week, including a pair of conference wins. The fourth-ranked Blugolds downed Tomah 78-50 behind 24 points and 16 rebounds from junior Calvin Bahr. Bahr would add 27 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists in an 80-71 victory over La Crosse Logan. Defeating Rochester Lourdes 71-35 on Saturday, Bahr would score 22 points with eight rebounds and four assists.

Kelly Boinski, Catholic Memorial GBB

It was a two-victory week for Catholic Memorial girls hoops, both against conference opponents. The Crusaders defeated Mukwonago 66-56 as senior Kelly Boinski scored 23 points on seven-of-12 shooting from the field and eight-of-10 from the free throw line. In a 63-52 win over Waukesha West, Boinski scored 22 points with six rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

Bria Gruen, Royall GBB

The Royall girls basketball team won three games last week, two of them in conference play. Panthers’ senior Brian Gruen had a triple-double in a 47-7 win over North Crawford, with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals. Gruen scored 15 points with five steals in a 41-28 victory against Brookwood. Royall was a 54-36 winner over Cashton later in the week, as Gruen had a second, triple-double with 24 points, 11 steals, and 10 rebounds.

Brennen Hackbarth, Sheboygan Lutheran BBB

Sheboygan Lutheran defeated Living Word Lutheran 86-66 in its only game last week, a non-conference affair on Tuesday. Senior Brennen Hackbarth scored 28 points, eclipsing the 1000-point mark for his career. he’d ad eight rebounds and a pair of steals as well.

Andrew Jensen, Kaukauna BBB

Kaukauna scored a pair of impressive victories in the FVA last week. The Ghosts are unbeaten, with senior All-State candidate Andrew Jensen playing a big role. In a 57-55 win over Neenah, Jensen scored 15 points with eight rebounds, making six-of-eight shots from the field and all three free throws. In an 83-61 win over Kimberly later in the week, Jensen scored 17 points with 15 rebounds, adding five assists and four blocks.
