Updated UNOFFICIAL Wisconsin Football Playoff Matrix rankings have been posted, and it’s time to take a look at some of the noteworthy changes and movement after last week’s results.

The unofficial results are courtesy of andylavoy.com/football, and the full point totals and rankings for all divisions can be found there. Official point totals are kept by the WIAA.

As a reminder, 32 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, with the top four in each division receiving a one-seed, the next four receiving a two-seed, and so on.

Remember, there are thousands of games remaining on the schedule this year, with lots of changes ahead in the order, and things will smooth out the more results that are in the system.

DIVISION 1

Arrowhead further solidified its spot as the overall number one with a narrow 21-20 win over Hamilton, who had been a one-seed but dips to the final two-seed this week. The other number one seeds joining Arrowhead are Franklin, Neenah, and Muskego. Stevens Point is the final qualifier in Division 1, just ahead of Green Bay Preble, though the margin is razor thin. There’s a good chance Stevens Point needs to beat Marshfield in Week 9 to get in.

DIVISION 2

Some changes in Division 2, with West De Pere jumping all the way to the top overall seed, while the other number ones are currently River Falls, Homestead, and Rice Lake, with Notre Dame, Monona Grove, Union Grove, and Holmen still lurking as potential top seeds should any stumble. The final qualifying spot right now belongs to Kettle Moraine.

DIVISION 3

Grafton, New Berlin West, and Catholic Memorial continue to be the top seeds in the Division 3 Matrix, but the final number one seed now goes to Edgewood, who took down Mount Horeb/Barneveld. Also helping the Crusaders was a loss by Luxemburg-Casco on Thursday night, dropping the Spartans from the ranks of the unbeatens. The race for the last couple three-seeds is tight and will likely depend on how other teams do to bolster the strength-of-schedule Tier 2 metric for a handful of squads still in the running. The last qualifying spot is currently Rhinelander.

DIVISION 4

Aquinas slips back into the top overall seed in Division 4 after a victory against West Salem. The other top seeds this week are Columbus, Racine St. Catherine’s, and Baldwin-Woodville, who defeated Osceola for control of the Middle Border. Milwaukee North is the last qualifier as of now.

DIVISION 5

The top seeds in Division 5 this week are Grantsburg, Northwestern, Tomahawk, and Mayville. Tomahawk moves into that final number one seed after Amherst suffered its first loss of the year against Stratford. Omro would be the final qualifier as of right now, unofficially.

DIVISION 6

Darlington is the top overall seed in Division 6 once again, followed by the same other number one seeds as last week: Manitowoc Lutheran, Regis, and Edgar. The two-seeds are unchanged as well. Further down the list, Cadott finds itself as the final qualifier, unofficially, for the second consecutive week.

DIVISION 7

Kenosha St. Joseph is still out in front, though the gap has narrowed slightly between the Lancers and the other top seeds in the Division. Lourdes Academy and Cochrane-Fountain City remain just behind, while Roncalli nudges just ahead of Potosi/Cassville, though should Potosi/Cassville defeat Black Hawk/Warren in Week 9 they should be a number one seed.

8-Player

The 8-Player regular season wrapped up last week, with Level 1 games in the expanded 32-team postseason beginning on Saturday. You can find the full qualifiers list and brackets here.
