BOUND WISCONSIN LEVEL 1 FOOTBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Fall Creek Crickets
Fall Creek was a seven-seed in the playoffs after a 5-4 regular season record, but they were convincing in a 34-7 opening postseason victory over Saint Mary Catholic on Friday. The Crickets were led led by junior quarterback Bryson Elkins, who threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns, while Ethan Westrate ran for a pair of scores.

Osseo-Fairchild Thunder
Osseo-Fairchild was 4-5 during the regular season and dropped the final two games of the year, and the Thunder went on the road as a seven-seed to take on second-seeded Shiocton, who was 8-1 during the year. Shiocton was up after the first quarter, but Osseo-Fairchild erupted for 22 points in the second quarter and held on for a 28-20 win and the program’s first postseason victory since 2010. Senior Drew Hanson ran for 182 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Potosi/Cassville
Potosi/Cassville was bumped up to Division 6 this year by the WIAA’s Tournament Performance Factor, and the team got a tough road game against a very good Mineral Point team in Level 1. They’d find their way to a 26-24 victory, rallying from a two-score deficit in the fourth quarter. Hunter White rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries.

Saint Francis Mariners
Saint Francis scored its first playoff win since a 2004 state runner-up finish, defeating Shoreland Lutheran 16-14. It was a rematch from a game the Mariners had lost earlier in the year. It was a balanced rushing attack for Saint Francis, as five players combined for 212 yards.

West Bend West Spartans
West Bend West will consolidate with West Bend East last year, but in its final season as a standalone program, the Spartans managed to secure their first ever WIAA playoff win, taking down Slinger 38-6. Tayecin Jimmerson rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, while quarterback Collin Grass accounted for 128 total yards and three scores.
