Amare Hereford of Beloit Memorial has been selected as the Week 15 Bound Wisconsin Basketball Player of the Week following a statewide vote on BoundWisconsin.com. He helped the Purple Knights to a pair of wins as the team advanced into sectional play. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 15. A total of 3,040 votes were cast, as Hereford’s 1,286 were enough to edge out second place Grady Poppy of Platteville, who tallied 1,006 votes.
Beloit Memorial took down a pair of former Big Eight foes to advance to sectional play. Senior standout Amare Hereford scored 51 points as the Purple Knights defeated Madison East 83-65. He’d follow that up with 39 points in an 80-67 regional final victory over Madison La Follette.
Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Bound Wisconsin Basketball Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for next week’s nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
