Bound Wisconsin Basketball Player of the Week - March 2-8

Josie Christian, Lomira GBB

Lomira advanced to the state tournament for the first time since 1993 with a hard-fought 61-57 win over Kenosha St. Joseph in the sectional final. Sophomore Josie Christian had 31 points with seven rebounds in the victory. She had 23 points in a 56-40 sectional semifinal win over Kohler.

Donovan Davis, Freedom BBB

Donovan Davis was dominant as Freedom claimed a regional title in boys hoops last week. He had 24 points and six rebounds in an 83-51 win over Wrightstown, then erupted for 36 points with 23 rebounds and seven assists as the Irish defeated Oconto Falls 95-65.

Amare Hereford, Beloit Memorial BBB

Beloit Memorial took down a pair of former Big Eight foes to advance to sectional play. Senior standout Amare Hereford scored 51 points as the Purple Knights defeated Madison East 83-65. He’d follow that up with 39 points in an 80-67 regional final victory over Madison La Follette.

Grady Poppy, Platteville BBB

Platteville scored a trio of victories last week to win a regional title. The Hillmen beat River Valley 76-66 to open the playoffs as junior Grant Poppy had 12 points and six rebounds. Poppy added 21 points and 14 boards in a 71-50 win against Mauston, with 27 points and 12 rebounds in a 72-61 regional final win over Lodi.

Destiny Webster, Notre Dame GBB

Notre Dame took down defending Division 1 state champion Kimberly 54-48 in a sectional semifinal on Thursday, as senior Destiny Webster had a game-high 18 points with five assists. The Tritons defeated Stevens Point 69-54 on Saturday behind 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists from Webster.

He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
